2022 Mega 3500, Loud droning noise on highway

I pulled fuse F71 (ANC/AMP) to see if it was blown. It wasn't, but I was very suprised how easy it was to pull out. I checked all fuses and I'd say over 90% of them were not pushed all the way in. I reinstalled the fuse and then started the truck up. The radio did a funky noise (I think ANC doing self test/recalibrating maybe?) and then settled in. Took for a 30 mile drive and I believe it may be fixed. Never heard the droning again at speed or at idle. Still going to climb under truck and check everything I can to see if anything is loose. Thanks for all the input. Hope I have no more troubles.

I have same issue. Pushed fuses in last weekend and seems to get a little better. Went to dealer and took a tech for a ride.

First thing he asked was is this your first 1 ton diesel 4x4? Yep.

He said it will quiet some more during break in and learning adjustments. He recommended wait till I have 1K miles on it if there are no mechanical or warning issues.

Then he said, search the manual for noise. I did, holy crap is there a lot of disclaimers in there about system noises.

So, it’s getting better by the day.

I’m coming from a BMW M550i so I think it is more me…

UPDATE.......noise is back. I am certain it is the ANC. I have driven it for the last 3 days after it sat over 3 weeks in my garage as I was out of the country. Immediately upon starting up, I get a low noise thump, thump, thump. Sounds like a distant artillery barrage. It is a deep base thump coming from the subwoofer and speakers (17 speaker HK). I have adjusted the sound settings and turned the bass all the way down/up/middle and the problem remains. The weird part is that if you open a door or window, it instantly goes away. I looked and saw all the small microphones in the mega-cab. 6 total. Going to try and tape over the ones in the back to see what happens. Then the ones in front. The ANC seems to be cutting in/out. Most of the aggrevation is at low speeds below 45 MPH. Sounds like an electric exhaust cut-out opening/closing non-stop. Less problems at highway speeds, but I still hear the ANC struggling and cutting in and out. Any FCA engineers on the forum? Any suggestions? Anyone on here know if it is possible to get the ANC recalibrated at the dealer? At this point, I would disable the ANC if I could as it is very annoying.

Man that would drive me nuts! Hope you find a solution - fast!

It says in the manual if you lower a window it turns the ANC off.

There appear to more and more of us experiencing this.

Mines still here. Seems to go away after driving the truck a bit. Winter so not opening the window, but when it is doing it and I put window down it stops. Also stops if I crank up the tunes. Seems to be most aligned with transmission shifts…

I jumped on the forum tonight because I have the same issue with my 22 2500 Laramie that just turned 300 miles. It sounds like someone that has no idea how to play the drums playing the drums. My first thought was a bad tire but I just had my OEM tires swapped for Continentals and the noise is still there. I’ll try the fuse thing and see if it goes away. Weather has been crappy so I haven’t crawled under it yet. BTW all my fuses were not seated as well.

I haven't expiernced this in my truck yet, but you can disable ANC with Alpha OBD and retain the radio.

I may disable the ANC just to see what difference it makes.

Does one need the security bypass with AlphaOBD to disable ANC?
Also, I understand the the AlphaOBD isn't released yet for the 2022 2500 6.4 trucks. Do you know different?

Update: made an appointment at the dealer, took tech for a ride and he said it is definitely ANC. Don’t know the outcome yet…

I’m joining in this thread with great interest. I picked up my new Ram 2500 with 6.4L yesterday and have the roaring noise and thumping. I pulled the fuse and confirmed ANC. I have an appointment with the dealer later in the week.

Good Lord! - is this something I'm going to have to deal with? I'm flying to MD in a week to drive my new 2500 6.4L home. I've got a 2,600 mile drive back up to the NW and I'll go nuts if that roaring/thunping noise starts. Two questions please:
1. What fuse did you pull and can you leave it out until the thing is fixed? (In other words, if my truck has the problem can I keep the fuse pulled out for the entire trip home - several days - without other systems being affected.)
2. How soon after you picked up your new truck did this crap start?

1. Fuse is F71. If you pull it, it kills the amp to the radio as well.

2. Mine is worse at idle or low speeds, and not as noticeable at highway speeds. Its been happening since day 1, dealer has a STAR case but no news yet.

Same here, started day 1. There may be a connection to the HK stereo system, but I’m not sure. I will see the dealer on Thursday and will call Customer Service today to make sure my voice is added to the chorus of other complaints about this issue. I love the truck otherwise.

So I got around to getting my KaodTech Security Module hooked up and AlphaOBD updated and yes it does show support for the 2022, however I changed the below 2 settings and no change. The drone is still there.

Here is the screenshot from the AlphaOBD showing 2022 support.

@Jimmy07 Do you have any other ideas?

Please keep us informed with dealer feedback! From what I can gather, the only chance of a fix is an amp replacement and/or uconnect 5 updated (more likely). Update not scheduled for release until end of March!!! No doubt “RamCares”…..
