2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

I hope you have deep pockets for the gas pump. The gas expense for a 6.4 liter with a 4:10 gears could in time equal the added expense of the base diesel option especially when towing. Of course I guess that depends on the percentage of time towing.
Seems funny to talk about gas cost when you're spending$50-$80k on trucks. I only drive my truck 6-8k miles a year anyway at 14mpg due to the lift and tires. Plus it's doubtful this truck will ever leave the eastern US while towing so the Cummins is not worth it for me right now. In eight years when I retire it will be a diesel dually for sure.

So to get the true car $500 you have to be a pen fed member for 60 days. To contact by phone Pen Fed you might as well try flying off a building with some dental floss.
Contacted True Car was not quite as bad but absolutely not helpful except for being told the guy couldn’t help me with rates and to call Pen Fed and that I wouldn’t be eligible for the $500 incentive because I wasn’t a member.
If you go online to Pen Fed to inquire they will not let you get through the pages without your social. I won’t give my Social on line to find a rate that’s not what they publish.
Usually if you speak to someone and tell them to run your given credit score for rate purposes only so you can compare they will. But so far both times I requested a call from Pen Fed it hasn’t been returned. Same with the email I sent.
Sooooo bottom line, expletive Pen Fed! Not worth financing with that business.
Marsh at Mark Dodge is a stellar person, super honest and they are super competitive. I’ll finance through them. I think it’s 2.37 or something close. Probably the same as Pen Fed. And that’s for 72 months. I think for 60 months it was 1.99.
Yeah! Penfed is hard to connect with via Phone. I needed information regarding my home loan (and I'm a member) and I had to write the CEO a letter to get anyone to help me. I believe PenFed, Navy Federal and USAA are all about the same Percentage wise. I know USAA is 1.89% at 60 months only if you allow them to take it out of your account automatically, otherwise 2.14%. I'm sure the other two are set up the same way.

I agree! The Cummins is nice, but diesel fuel seems to outpace gas these days. Plus the cost to maintain the Diesel is higher than gas. The mountains on the East Coast are nothing compared to the Rocky's out west. If I lived out West I'd opt for a Diesel for sure.

I guess we all have something we hate spending money on. For me it's expensive restaurants that give you a meal the size of an appetizer and charge you $50 and the other is over priced bio-diesel at truck stops that makes your fuel economy drop.

I don't understand your beef with penfed. I'm a member and have been for quite a while. I just got my discount code in like 2 minutes.

FYI: my truck came in Tuesday and I finally made it to the dealer today finalize the deal. I went online Tuesday night and got the true car $500 discount code and email and my dealer didn’t even blink about honoring it. Took all of 60 secs to get the code. Not sure what the deal is with pen fed. I financed 1/2 the cost and had pre approved thru USAA for 1.89%.
That’s awesome! Now tell us how! Pen Fed sucks and True care said I had to be a member for the $500.

I like businesses that pick up the phone or return communications. Especially banks. I’m not a member and if I could have spoken with anybody maybe that would have changed. I’ve tried for 3 days now. Politely too!

I was never in the military. (One of the biggest regrets in my life to date). I think USAA and Navy you either have to be a veteran or have a family member that was.
I’m a residential builder and have dealt with ALL the insurance companies for folks that had claims and USAA is the 2nd best of all.
My credit score is 799. I’ll get a good rate anywhere. The difference in a half point for a 72 month loan isn’t a lot.
Mark Dodge said they’d be at about 2.37 at most. That’s maybe $10 or less per month. I’d rather give them the business.
To say that they’re the best dealership I’ve worked with is a huge understatement. From Renae to Aaron and then the finance manager Marsh words don’t do justice. They’re 1045 miles from me and I don’t think I’d consider going elsewhere. And I’m not an easy sell, I can, unfortunately, get a wee bit hot when angry. Customer service means a lot to me. I’ll do Mark Dodge for as long as I buy Ram trucks.

@MrTaz you rock dude. Too funny. Seems like you and I agree in many areas.

I hate overpaying for fuel. Here in Colorado, for now at least, I can get diesel for less the regular unleaded but when I lived in the socialist republic of Kalifornia diesel was/is stupid high. BUT, I’m fully no holds barred addicted to the Cummins. I don’t care if my commute was 4 miles and the most I put in the bed was a liner, I’d be driving my Cummins HD.

….my wife was driving. So no, I didn’t get pics. She makes fun of me enough as it is because I’m always on this forum. I don’t need to give her more ammunition to fire

We like you visiting still. Tell your wife it’s because you have a ton of friends here.
I’ve been meaning to ask, how are you liking your truck and how many miles are on it.

I switched up the customer care playbook a bit this afternoon. Replied to an old generic email from US Customer Care. I was told 3 days ago that a case manager would email me in 1-2 business days. Figured I’d beat ‘‘em to it. We’ll see what happens.

No issues with PenFed for me. Setup account took like 10 mins. Deposit $5. And wait 60 days. Worth $500 off to me! When it comes time to get truck, I’ll check their rates and Mark Dodges rates. Either way, I’m still getting $500 for all of 15 mins of work! No brainer for me. I never even had to pick up a phone!

But you had to give your social security number. I don’t like that part without knowing a close approximation of the rate I’ll be getting. Especially since they probably don’t tell you about the 60 days till after they have your SS number, which for me is too late. Plus the deal is you pay $20/1000 borrowed on a 60 month loan. So less on a 72 month loan. $500 would probably save me $5/month. I’ll live. Sure I would like it but I’m not into playing their game without communication.
My truck should be at dealer by the 24th. I know it was KZT a few days ago.

Didn’t mention that I didn’t even end up using USAA. Dealer had a local bank that matched the USAA offer of 1.89% so went with them as it saved a little time. As for the true car discount I just showed it to the dealer and they accepted it and added the $500 discount in the rebates section of the contract. Here’s a screen shot of the top portion of the email after signing up for the true car discount.

I was thinking same! They would prob listen all of 10 mins of my conversation and then quit recording! But, I completely understand some people’s view on privacy! Back to topic:

MY TRUCK HAS ARRIVED in Port Allen. One step closer!!!

Were you on the train that left 12/30? I'm on the same train but haven't heard if I'm in Port Allen yet...Didn't think it was scheduled to arrive till the 11th.

It is incredibly nice, thanks for asking!
I think I’m about 3,500 miles so far. I have an 8 hour round trip haul tomorrow that should put me right about 4,000. Overall a significant upgrade from my 2017 and I thank myself every day for springing on the Longhorn. The interior impresses me every time I’m behind the wheel. So far my only real complaints, and they’re very minor, are:

1. The digital rearview mirror definitely creates a blind spot for the drivers forward vision, especially at intersections. Have to duck to make sure you’re clear.

2. The Aisin shifting seems vastly different than the 2017 I had previously. When not in tow - haul mode, the transmission has a tendency to want to hold gears a little longer than it should, and perceivably longer than the old truck. This is both in upshift and downshift scenarios, but is far more prevalent when a downshift is required. It also seems to get “lost” in slow moving scenarios such as railroad crossings where you’re in between 1st and 2nd. I chalk some of this up to the transmission still “learning”, however by this many miles, I’d assume it should be “taught” for the most part.

3. The UC5-12 is still a little glitchy. Some apps are more glitchy than others, while the weather app doesn’t seem to work hardly ever. The most recent software update did seem to improve the wireless apple CarPlay issues.

4. That annoying 3 horn beep when the key fob leaves the truck while running…..

I have to agree with you especially about the social security number. I guard that number and my phone number with my life and I'm even careful about what companies I give my zip code too. I hate advertisement. I consider it an invasion of privacy. You also know that when you give your social security number to a company like that they will run a credit check and your credit score takes a hit. I would have to know the rates in advance before I would give them any kind of information.
