2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Just tried ram chat ( I’m a glutton for punishment) and waited for 5 minutes and no agent responded. Anybody else have problems getting a response?
Probably no loss anyways for no more than they can tell you. They don't even have access to status codes...

Exactly. Another factor that could come into to play on the orders lost in the black hole is Dealer Allocation. Could it be that the dealers don't have the allocation to fill the order ? Are "sold" orders handled differently than dealer stock or do they both count towards a dealer's allocation ?
They both count towards allocation. I always ask them if they have allocation first before I order. When I ordered my Hellcat they told I would have to wait until the following month for their allocation to become available.

I'm beginning to believe that maybe, just maybe, my dealer isn't being honest with me. I purchased from a small hometown dealer 500 miles from where I currently live. They didn't ask for a deposit (His sister who also works for the family owned dealership and my sister are best friends since grade school 40+ years) (I went to school with his dad, but we didn't hang out together), but I insisted I provide a deposit anyway to secure my purchase.

With help from Members on this Forum my truck was tracked to the final Rail Yard destination and was unloaded from the rail car over a week ago.

I recently sent several texts over a 3-4 day period to my dealer contact (Sales Manager and Owners Son) who up until now always answered within a few minutes. This time he didn't answer any of my texts.

He originally didn't have any 2022 Ram Trucks on his lot when I made the purchase. A week ago I searched his website checking for inventory and found he had several 2022 RAM Trucks for sale so I know they recently got delivered. I'm beginning to think my truck was also in this mix, but after calling the dealership, he states he hasn't been able to get mine delivered from the Rail Yard.

He made excuses he couldn't answer my texts because his son dropped his phone into the bathtub and just today got a new phone. He also stated he was not allowed to contact the delivery company who delivers to his dealership so his hands are tied but, he would contact his rep and try to get me an update.

According to him the units on his lot were invoiced first, therefore delivered first. I'm calling BS because I believe RAM loads trucks on rail cars according to destination. In other words every truck loaded on that one rail car was destined to the same general location. I also know from reading information on this Forum from awesome members RAM also invoiced the dealer for my truck before it ever left the factory for the rail journey.

Does anyone know how long RAM gives the dealer to pay the invoice? 30, 60, 90 days or maybe longer?
That's funny. You just used dealership and the word "honest" in the same sentence. :p When the truck is completed and ready for shipping they are then invoiced. I have no idea how long they have to pay but I would think it would work like the flooring plan and the interest would start to accumulate until they pay.

But you had a POC with a vin, correct? If so then Ram would ding the dealer pretty hard if they sold your truck from under you. The Vin is associated with your name.

. Oh I have been reading and commiserating with everyone on how long it takes, just not commenting. Did not find HD Forums until I started looking for truck information. Got here late in my truck wait, but glad I found it. Learned and learning a lot. Will continue to use site after truck gets here and explore all the rest the site has to offer.
You know how it is. Misery loves company and all that.
We want to hear not only the, “my truck is here Yey me stuff” but we want also need to also hear, I’ve ordered in May or June and my dealer isn’t returning any calls and I’m gonna go get a ford! Ram Crap is telling me a bunch of BS. All that stuff makes it sound like a miracle when someone like you receives their truck. Then we get our hopes up and we like that.

Just curios does anyone know if your original poc has to have price protection on it or is it dealers discretion. Thanks.

Yep! I have a POC with a VIN. The only problem is the dealer "Sales Manager" used his personal home address instead of mine on the POC even though my name is on the POC. So technically my name should be on the Window Sticker. Probably nothing to worry about, but I've been around many a shady dealer in my 66 years...... He input all the information while I was at the dealership. but couldn't get the order to go through. Stated he needed to contact his Rep to verify and get the order to go through. He received a return call from his Rep while I was out having lunch with my family and his Rep helped him get the order through his system so he completed it before I could return to the dealership and provide him an address. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but given today's society......... Well, I'll just leave it there because I'm a Christian........

LOL Now that's funny! I don't care who you are...... It made me chuckle for sure..... I agree when the unit is invoiced however, if I was a dealer I would complain about any interests charges before I actually had the unit on my lot. I shouldn't be charged interest while FCA is still trying to get the shipping worked out.

Gonna show my ignorance here. Is there any way that some of our shipping woes are due to dealers not paying invoices?

I passed the lot in Port Allen yesterday. It was packed with cars, more so than usual. They did have about 10 car haulers loaded up.

Im stuck on that Lot with with an estimated deliver 12/27 to 1/10 to the dealer.

Not sure about cars today but in the olden days when we were earning 15% interest on CDs (not audio CDs) there were “Floor Plans” to encourage sellers to increase inventory that were 0% for x number of days. Depending on what the commodity was it could be anywhere from 30 days to 6 mo before you started paying for inventory. Or you could increase your discount off published wholesale price by paying cash. Terms like 2% net 30 days come to mind.

But if you are talking dealers in arrears on previous purchases that might be a player in delaying orders until balances are current. But in theory that would affect all orders for a given dealer and if he is still getting inventory in then presumably he is in good standing.

I agree with the last thing you said. It seems it would have to at least be on the lot for a certain period of time before they are charged interest.

My price protection is the threat of giving them a bad review on their Chrysler review, Google and DealerRater
I love doing reviews! Good or bad! I've written many a CEO and received good feedback from most of them. I wrote the CEO of Wolverine Boots a great review a few years ago and received a gift certificate for a free pair of Boots up to $150.00 value. I've also gotten people promoted as well as fired depending on the circumstance ......

Interesting! Is there a way to see if your dealer is in good standing? Obviously your salesman wouldn’t tell you that, and I would doubt that RamChat would.

This came up just a few days ago. My understanding is that the dealer has to apply for it and it is not the easiest process, but any dealer can apply for price protection. I have seen at least one post where a member here said their dealer said they would "fight" for price protection, which seems like dramatics by the dealer to me, but I do understand it may not be easy to do.
