For all those flying to Mark Dodge and driving home with 2022 orders

yes asking specifically about California, it seems that I need to get a weight certificate and have Mark Dodge mail paperwork directly to a local DMV office. Concerned the local DMV office will not get the mail, loose it or not notify me about it.
Mark Dodge sent me all the paperwork via FedEx and I took everything into the local DMV office.

I would sign up for AAA here to bypass the CA DMV just for this. The AAA DMV has been worth it solely to avoid the lines especially now since appointments are not the same as a few years ago. Im keeping my black plate which is blocked and considered personalized and thats another form to file. They told me a new one would take about 9 months at the current wait. I plan to look into this process further once my truck is closer to delivery from Mark Dodge.

I'm a AAA member, don't see new registrations as part of the services they provide at their offices on the website, be great if i could bypass the local dmv

Hmm could be. I sold a vehicle last week and while there they gave me all the paperwork that Mark would need to file to keep my old plate on a new truck at the time of sale but said its a tad more complicated for the initial registration. I didn't think about asking whether a new reg could be mailed there.

When I did my last out of state car a year or two ago I called my local Nor-cal AAA and they said they did not. I suspect it has to do with the in-person inspection they did at the DMV (they did a vin verification and documented the serial on the emissions stickers under the hood).

That dealer fedex me a packet with everything prefilled out with flags for my signatures after they had all of the loan information completed/finalized and I brought it to the dmv. It went surprisingly smoothly for a dmv transaction...got my plates at the counter. I scanned my finalized reg for proof for the lender.

Daryls Po Boys is a must stop in LC. I recommend their special, or the surf n turf with jalepeno Mayo dipped in crab boil.
Rikenjaks Brewing- Great beer selection and food is very good as well.

Laburge- has Ember steakhouse (nice but pricey) and Jack Daniels (huge beer selection with great food)
Golden Nugget- Lots more restaurant options, Landrys, Mexican place, aisan, Saltgrass Steakhouse. Highly recommend checking out the blue martini lounge. Back porch overlooks the lake, usually has live bands, great drinks and the views are nice.

Couple exits up from Mark Dodge is Nelson Rd. Same exit the Casinos are on. Several nice hotel options. Im a Marriot member so i either stayed at the Springhill or the Courtyard.

thank you for sharing, did you have to get a weight certificate?
Weight was on the MSO. I wasted the 12 bucks at the truck scales, and it was something like 200# lighter on the MSO.
The VIN # verification took up most of the time at DMV. Oh, and the smog certification was a PIA, that took 1/2 hr and $50

Getting jealous of you folks that have ordered from MD and currently picking up trucks. Congrats!
I think it's getting time for me place an order as well. I have heard the name Sandi mentioned several timed, but it's not one of the few names listed on the dealer's website. Who is the preferred contact to use to start the order process from Mark Dodge?

You can definitely start with Sandi by sending her an email at [email protected]. She may redirect/refer you to someone else she works with. But she's a great first contact.

I'm having them meet me at the Texarkana airport, which is about 45 mins from my dad's place. I'm expecting my truck in either late Feb to mid March, so I'll probably just scoot straight home after visiting family.

You guys heading back to Cali have quite a few good options of things to do on you way back if you like a little off road fun. There is Carlsbad Caverns NP, the Very Large Array, the Mojave Road, Anza-Borrego, Joshua Tree NP, and Death Valley.

Specially the guys that are taking Powerwagons home!

Sorry to hijack, but what discounts are MD offering on a 3/4 ton Laramie? I’ve got a quote on a half ton ecodiesel, and the discount is great for it, but I’m debating on ordering a Cummins instead.

When I ordered in July my agreed price was ~12-13% below MSRP.

Gotcha. Thank you. Don’t really NEED another 3/4 ton (wife drives a 21 Laramie mega cab), but it’d be nice to have. I drive 500+ miles a week for work, so was thinking the ecodiesel would be the way to go.

Biggest thing for you guys driving from Mark dodge is that you need to stress they HAVE to get the PSI right and lowered from shipping during PDI and alignment. There are no air chucks that worked within 50 miles when I just went this past week and stopped at like 4 gas stations to air down for my 1200 mile trip. Sadly I picked up my truck after hours so their service team was not available.

I have to check a bag to take my sidearm anyways, should I toss this in…?

I would to be safe. I was going to bring my husky portable but I wanted to only use a carry on for a speedy trip as I was by myself and didn't care for creature comforts.
