2019 Ram Heavy Duty Cummins Models Arriving At Dealers:

Several weeks ago, we told you that Ram was waiting on the EPA to certify the 2019 Ram 2500/3500 models with the revised 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel and the new 6.7-liter High-Output Cummins Turbo Diesel motors. At the time, the United States government was shut down but it did not stop Ram from building them. Ram then got back to us a week later saying the engines were approved and they would be shipping models soon.

Well we are happy to say that the new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty models with the Cummins engines are starting to show up in dealer inventory. While some Ram dealers are still waiting for their initial Heavy Duty orders, some dealers in the Southwestern United States have started getting their Cummins orders already. 

With a long list of upgrades, the new 6.7-liter High-Output Cummins Turbo Diesel delivers up to 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,800 rpm and 400 horsepower @ 2,800 rpm. For 2019, changes begin at the core with a cylinder block made from compacted graphite iron. Overall, the new Cummins Turbo Diesel weighs more than 60 lbs. less than the previous-generation engine, yet delivers more power and torque.

A new cast-iron cylinder head builds on the new block with changes that include new exhaust valves and springs, and new rocker arms. Lighter and stronger pistons include new low-friction rings and connect to the crankshaft via newly design forged connecting rods and new bearings. An all-new exhaust manifold is the mounting point for an improved variable-geometry turbocharger with laminated heat shields, delivering boost pressure up to 33 psi.

The standard revised 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel also gets a performance boost with 370 horsepower @ 2,800 rpm and 850 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,700 rpm.
