Stellantis Recalls 456,287 Vehicles Over Trailer Tow Module Defect

Trailer Lighting and Brake Failure Prompts Recall Across Ram and Jeep Lineups

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 456,287 vehicles due to an improperly designed trailer tow module that can cause trailer lighting and trailer brakes to fail.

According to the recall notice, affected vehicles may experience a loss of trailer turn signals, stop lamps, and—if equipped—trailer brake functionality. These failures can occur without warning.

What’s the Issue?

2025 Ram 5500 Laramie Crew Cab with Rancher Body. (Ram).

When the defect is present:

  • Trailer turn signals may not flash when the vehicle turn signal is activated

  • Trailer stop lamps may not illuminate when the vehicle’s brakes are applied

  • Trailer brakes may fail to operate (if equipped)

Safety Risk

2024 Jeep® Wagoneer S Launch Edition. (Jeep).

Non-functioning trailer lighting may prevent other drivers from recognizing changes in direction or speed, increasing the risk of a crash.

Additionally, the loss of trailer brakes can reduce stopping capability and further raise the risk of an accident—both occurring without prior warning.
