Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 214 units of its 2023 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 vehicles due to an insufficient weld in the transmission control unit. This defect can cause transmission fluid to leak onto electrical components, potentially resulting in a loss of drive power or a malfunction of the parking function. A loss of drive power or park function increases the risk of a crash.

Recall Chronology –
- On April 23, 2024, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into some 2023MY Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, and Cab Chassis vehicles potentially built with an insufficient weld between the TCU cover and baseplate.
- From April 23, 2024, through May 2, 2024, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US engineering and supplier quality to review the issue, understand the failure mode, and determine the suspect population.
- As of May 2, 2024, FCA US is unaware of any customer assistance records, warranty claims, or field reports potentially relating to this issue for all markets.
- As of May 2, 2024, FCA US is unaware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets.
- On May 31, 2024, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.
Remedy –
Dealers will replace the valve body and control unit free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 26, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC’s number for this recall is 63B.
