Ram has been relatively quiet about its upcoming 2025 Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty pickups, only releasing a trio of images back in late September. Since then, fully uncamouflaged models have been elusive—until now. To my surprise, while shopping with my family on Saturday night, I spotted a 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel Crew Cab 4×4 parked next to my vehicle. Without my DSLR on hand, I quickly pulled out my phone and captured images of this updated Heavy Duty truck.
The truck appeared to be equipped with the Rebel 1 Equipment Package and the updated 6.7-liter Cummins I6 turbodiesel.
Showcasing a unique front grille design exclusive to the off-road-oriented Power Wagon and Rebel models, the new grille design is a mix of horizontal and vertical bars, with rectangular inserts flanking the RAM logo. It instantly reminded me of an 1880s locomotive cowcatcher. The design also hints at the 75th Anniversary grille from the 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon, which later became a standard feature on Level 2 Rebel and Power Wagon models. While polarizing, the grille may grow on enthusiasts over time.
Complementing the front end are new standard bi-functional LED projector headlamps, which look sharp in person. Unlike the 2025 Ram 1500 Rebel, which features standard LED reflector headlamps without daytime running lights (DRLs), the new bi-functional LED projector headlamps come standard with LED DRLs running along the top of the lamp.
The 2025 Ram 2500/3500 lineup retains its fourth-generation architecture while introducing significant updates. Buyers will still be able to choose from Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab configurations. (This Rebel only comes in the Crew Cab configuration with a 6-foot, 4-inch box.) Exterior updates include redesigned front styling and refreshed taillights. The rest of the exterior styling remains the same as in 2024. Lower trims like the Tradesman and Big Horn feature standard LED reflector headlights, while higher trims, including the Rebel, upgrade to bi-functional LED projector headlamps as standard equipment. Similarly, lower trims come with incandescent taillights, while premium trims (including this Rebel) include LED taillights as standard equipment.
Ram has made adaptive cruise control (ACC) standard across all trims, emphasizing advanced safety features. The Rebel I spotted also featured the 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, standard with the Rebel 1 Equipment Package. Lower trims like the Tradesman and Big Horn come with the 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 system, while higher trims (like the Rebel Level 2) will offer the new 14.4-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen.
Under the hood, the familiar 6.4-liter HEMI® ‘BGE’ V8 remains the standard engine, paired with the 8HP75-LCV 8-speed automatic transmission. For diesel enthusiasts, the updated 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel I6 is rumored to have several enhancements, including a redesigned cylinder head with external injectors, a new intake manifold, top-loading cartridge filters, and an upgraded high-pressure fuel pump. The Cummins engine now pairs with the ZF PowerLine™ 8-speed automatic transmission, replacing the 68RFE and Aisin AS69RC 6-speed automatics. This change improves towing performance, shift quality, and fuel economy.
Looking into the cabin, I can confirm that the PowerLine 8-speed will be shifted via a column-mounted shifter like the outgoing 68RFE and Aisin, not a rotary dial shifter like the HEMI® model.
The Rebel I encountered was equipped with the updated Cummins engine. According to dealer guides, the Cummins comes with standard features like a 3.42 axle ratio and a diesel exhaust brake. The 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel will have a starting MSRP of $68,645 for the HEMI® model, with the Cummins option adding $12,595, bringing the starting price to $81,240 (plus a $1,995 destination fee, or $2,045 in Hawaii). The Rebel 1 Equipment Package, which includes features like heated and ventilated leather seats, a sport performance hood, and a premium audio system, costs an additional $2,495.
