RECALL: RAM Recalls 222,410 Cummins-Powered Trucks For CP4 Fuel Pump!

Owners Will Begin Being Notified On January 1st, 2022...

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 222,410 units of its 2019 to 2020 Ram 2500/3500 pickups and Ram 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cabs equipped with the 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel. The recall-affected trucks are equipped with the Bosch CP4 high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) that could fail prematurely. A failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation.

Vehicle occupants may notice a “Malfunction Indicator Lamp” illuminating, a fuel leak, abnormal engine noise, or a change in drive quality. Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

The models affected are…

  • 2019 to 2020 Ram 2500 (DJ) – 113,720 units built between October 11th, 2018 to November 13th, 2020.
  • 2019 to 2020 Ram 3500 (D2) – 67,586 units built between October 18th, 2018 to November 13th, 2020.
  • 2019 to 2020 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab (DD) – 11,384 units built between November 29th, 2018 to November 13th, 2020.
  • 2019 to 2020 Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab (DP) – 29,720 units built between November 29th, 2018 to November 13th, 2020.

FCA US, LLC will conduct a voluntary safety recall to replace the HPFP, update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software, and inspect and, if necessary, replace additional fuel system components free of charge.
