Ram Shows Its 2025 Heavy Duty Before Official Unveiling

This morning, the Ram brand released three images of the newly updated 2025 Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty with the following press release:

“As we approach the reveal of our 2025 Ram Heavy Duty, the engineering teams are conducting final testing on one of the most important performance attributes of our heavy haulers: cooling. As the trucks will be running loose in the wild with the camouflage removed, we wanted to share some quality exterior images with you rather than a badly lit snapshot out the window at 70 mph.”

The formal reveal of the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty and its Chassis Cab variants will occur later. Ram will provide more detail on the truck’s design, powertrain, and technology at that time.

Let’s look at these latest teaser images and see what we can learn from them.

2025 Ram 3500 Tradesman –

The photo above shows the 2025 Ram 3500 Tradesman. Based on this image, it appears that the new Heavy-Duty lineup will feature standard LED reflector headlamps, similar to the 2025 Ram 1500. Additionally, a radar cruise sensor is visible in the center of the grille, positioned just above the front bumper. If Ram follows the same approach as with the 2025 Ram 1500, all Ram Heavy-Duty trucks may come with adaptive cruise control (ACC) as standard equipment.

You can also spot a mount for a front camera under the “A” in the R-A-M script on the grille. However, upon closer inspection, it seems there is no actual camera in the housing—it’s just a dummy. This move mirrors Ram’s approach with the 2025 1500 models and likely aims to reduce parts complexity.

2025 Ram 2500 Laramie Sport – 

This photo appears to show a 2025 Ram 2500 Laramie Sport. Compared to the Tradesman trim, you can clearly see the upgraded LED headlights, which feature four projectors on each side along with accent lighting across the top of the headlight. Notably, the camera housing under the “A” in the RAM badge is equipped with a camera, indicating the presence of the 360-degree camera system. As with the Tradesman, the radar cruise sensor is integrated into the lower part of the front grille, signaling a nice update to the Laramie trim level.

2025 Ram 2500 Rebel – 

Ram also gave us a sneak peek at the updated 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel, which appears to be sporting the new Forged Blue exterior color. The Rebel’s front end is distinctive, featuring a grille insert design that’s unique to this trim (and likely the Power Wagon). The design is somewhat busy, with a mix of horizontal and vertical bars, along with varying sizes of vertical bars in the rectangular inserts flanking the RAM logo. While the truck’s Forged Blue color and updated headlight design are appealing, the grille insert on the Rebel may take some getting used to—if at all.

The 20-inch wheels and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires seem to carry over from previous models for 2025.

From The Rear – 

Ram also shared a rear view of the 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel. For the most part, everything looks carried over, except for the fresh taillight design, which is a nice update.

Conclusion – 

Although the exterior changes are subtle, the 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel presents a sharp update overall. Truck enthusiasts can be resistant to change, but as with the launch of the 2019 Ram 1500 (DT) and the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty lineup, initial grumbling will likely give way to acceptance as loyalists warm up to the new design.

Ram’s decision to release these photos ahead of time is smart, as it allows them to showcase the trucks in a professional light before any spy shots surface from less flattering angles or low-quality images. This proactive approach reminds me of when I had a good rapport with Ram, and a spy photographer once sent me uncamouflaged shots of the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty trucks. I gave Ram a heads-up, and they laughed, acknowledging that they expected it. By releasing official photos now, Ram controls the narrative before the engineers drop the camo.
