Ram and Cummins Extend Partnership Through 2030

A Legacy of Power and Innovation Continues with New 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel...

Ram and Cummins are celebrating over 35 years of collaboration with the announcement that their partnership will extend through 2030. This news comes alongside the launch of the next-generation 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel engine, set to power the 2025 Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty pickups and 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cabs. Built-in Columbus, Indiana, this latest engine is Cummins’ most advanced yet, promising improved performance, durability, and efficiency for both pickups and Chassis Cab models.

The new 6.7-liter delivers impressive numbers—430 horsepower and 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque for Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty and 360 horsepower and 800 lb.-ft. of torque for Chassis Cab models. These engines are paired with a new series of ZF-sourced 8-speed Powerline™ automatic transmissions, enhancing responsiveness, power delivery, and overall driveability.

Towing capabilities have also received an upgrade. Ram 2500 pickups now boast faster acceleration, including quicker 0 to 60 mph and quarter-mile times when towing heavy loads. Improvements in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) make the ride quieter and more comfortable, thanks to innovations like helical valve train gears.

For added convenience, Cummins has redesigned engine serviceability. Top-mounted oil and fuel filters make maintenance faster and easier, while over-the-air software updates can now be performed directly from inside the truck. A new high-pressure fuel system and advanced emissions technologies ensure the engine remains efficient while meeting stricter environmental standards.

Cold weather performance has also been optimized with new glow plug technology that reduces start times in extreme temperatures, ensuring reliability in all conditions.

Since introducing the first Cummins-powered Ram Heavy Duty in 1989, the collaboration has set power, durability, and innovation benchmarks. The continuation of this partnership reaffirms both companies’ commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for heavy-duty truck owners, making the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty lineup the most advanced yet.
