Ram 4000 Chassis Cab Returns To The Mexico Market For 2022 Model Year:
The Hard-Working, Tough, and Capable Chassis Cab Is Back For Another Year...
The RAM brand is known for its hard-working, tough, and capable chassis cab trucks in the North American market. Over the last decade, the Ram 4000 Chassis Cab has played an important role in the Ram Truck portfolio in the Mexican marketplace. What is a Ram 4000 you may be wondering? The Ram 4000 is a unique package built exclusively for the Mexican marketplace and meets the needs of a majority of businesses in the country.
For the 2022 model year, the Ram 4000 Chassis Cab returns virtually unchanged with two cab configurations and two chassis lengths. With the Regular Cab models, customers are able to choose from two different chassis dimensions, a short chassis (60-inch distance from the cab to rear axle) known as “P” and a long chassis (84-inch distance from the cab to rear axle) or “PL”. The Crew Cab model comes only in the 60-inch cab to rear axle configuration.
What sets the Ram 4000 apart from the 3500 Chassis Cab is that its only available with gasoline power. That’s right, no diesel option here. While RAM did away with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 in the Heavy Duty lineup for Canada and the United States, it continues in the Mexican Ram 4000 Regular Cab models.
The 5.7-liter HEMI is good for 383 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 400 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, which is backed by either a Tremec TR4050 5-speed manual transmission (which is not available on other Heavy Duty models) on rear-wheel-drive models or a 66RFE 6-speed automatic which is standard on the 4×4 models. The Regular Cab models can provide a load capacity of up to 3,499 kg (7,714 lbs).
The Crew Cab version features the brawny 6.4-liter HEMI V8 BGE (or Big Gas Engine) delivering 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. The 8HP75-LCV TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission comes as standard equipment with the 6.4-liter. Crew Cab offers the best load capacity of 6,402 lbs. (2,904kg) and towing of 14,969 lbs. (6,790kg) in its category.
All of the 2022 Ram 4000 Chassis Cabs offer a flat-frame surface, making it easy for up-fitters to install multiple body configurations to the truck. to install multiple body styles. Additionally, the Ram 4000 has a Vehicle System Interface Module (VSIM) connectivity module specifically designed to facilitate any type of aftermarket electrical installation in the truck, allowing the bodybuilder to activate multiple applications safely and with the guarantee of not altering the specific electrical circuits from the factory.
Ram 4000’s multi-leaf spring, solid-axle, and stabilizer bar rear suspension have been specifically designed for the Mexican marketplace. The structure is necessary for loads of pavement conditions with potholes, bumps, or if there is no road.
The exterior of the Ram 4000 features the bold “R-A-M” grille with chrome inserts, hood with “Heavy Duty” emblems (that’s right, no 4000 badges here), black front bumper, black trim on the front fenders, and automatic quad-halogen headlamps. Other exterior details are the LED clearance lights, black door handles, variable-speed windshield wipers, and 17-inch steel wheels.
