Your gun is poop

Yea, my gut has grown and not sure how well a appendix carry will work. Then again, tring to reach the small of my back only works while standing or leaning forward.
Just trying to find something that is comfortable.

I’ve been carrying IWB 4:00 for approx 15 years. I have tried a few times to switch to appendix (I believe it’s superior) and it doesn’t work for me. I always end up back at 4:00. Unfortunately you gotta waste money on holsters and try different things until you find what works for your body and lifestyle.

I can't do the appendix either. I'm a normal size guy (190lbs). I carry at the 4-5 position and it works well for me.

Just for clarification; when y'all say appendix carry you mean IWB at the 12 o'clock position? Because I've always considered that to be a terrible carry position/location.

I have a few IWB holsters I wear at either the 4 or 2 o'clock positions. Also, a OWB left handed holster for open carrying my large revolver when working at the ranch.

Yes, just off center from 12 o’clock.

I cannot do it comfortably and I have spent lots of money on AIWB rigs. But, it is the most advantageous carry position. It allows the fastest draw, and if you were to grapple with someone, its the only position where you would still have control of your firearm.

It is the most advantageous carry position and also the only one where it's possible to shoot your d**k off or hit the femoral artery! :D

And they ain't cheap....

I believe anything from 2 o'clock either side is considered appendix. I carry between 1 & 2. Any ND/AD with a firearm on your body is gonna leave a mark. I understand the fear of blowing your johnson off, but trigger discipline and practice (which no matter where you holster your firearm should be conducted) mitigates 99% of the risk.

Unpossible. It's a Federal form. They do get updates. Suggest you look up the current 4473. FFL's are generally allowed to use up old paper form stocks but so many are all electronic now anyway.

Just saying again, a state still has to permit the use of a CHP, FOID, etc. to bypass NICS via a state statute when completing a required 4473 for retail sales and/or gunshows or private depending on state.

In the now onerous anti-2A liberal run state of Colorado, we also have to pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation check in addition to NICS regardless of permit. Ditto for private sales now since 2013 and all gunshow sales since 2000. For reference Columbine was 1999 and Aurora was 2012.

ATF Form 4473, also known as the Firearms Transaction Record, is used by Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) to document the sale or transfer of firearms. Box 29 on the form serves a specific purpose related to the background check process.
Here's a breakdown of its allowed use:
Box 29: NICS Exemption
  • Purpose: This box is used to indicate that a NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) check is not required for the firearm transfer because the transferee (buyer) possesses a valid permit that qualifies as a NICS exemption under federal law.
  • NICS Exemption: Certain state-issued permits, typically those for concealed carry or firearm purchase, may be recognized by the ATF as equivalent to a NICS check.
  • If Applicable: If the transferee presents a valid permit that meets the NICS exemption criteria, the FFL should mark box 29 and record the relevant information about the permit.
  • Skip NICS Check: When box 29 is used, the FFL does not need to contact NICS to perform a background check for that particular transaction.
In Summary
Box 29 on Form 4473 is utilized when a transferee presents a valid state permit that exempts them from the standard NICS background check requirement. The FFL should consult the ATF's guidelines and regulations to determine which state permits qualify for this exemption. https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regul.../gun-control-act/brady-law/brady-permit-chart

Bottom line, we're glad for those of you living in free states.
I live in the "seriously jumped the shark" communist state of Washington. When I bought a home here in 2013 on the border of Idaho, the firearms laws were identical. I just happened to find the perfect house in a perfect little town two miles over the border in Washington, a mere 15 miles from where I was born and raised in Idaho. Within 6 months of my purchase, the liberals got full control of all branches of government and have declared war on the US constitution and the 2nd amendment ever since.

Currently, I cannot purchase a semi-automatic rifle or shotgun. I cannot purchase a standard capacity magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds. I am subject to not only a federal background check, but also a local background check that I have to pay an additional fee for, and wait an additional two weeks for. I cannot sell my firearms to a neighbor or friend. I have to go through an FFL and pay $40 and wait 2 weeks.

In four months, a new law goes into effect that will end me being able to go to a local gravel pit 2 miles out of town for target shooting. It will also end anyone being able to travel into Washington with a firearm in their vehicle without taking strict measures and/or modifying their vehicle.

The new law states that any person who enters the state of Washington with a pistol in their vehicle must have a valid WA CCW permit. Furthermore, they must also be able to lock that pistol in a safe/vault permanently attached to their vehicle in case they need to go into a restricted area that prohibits the possession of a firearm, such as a school, or church, or bar, or Applebees, or post office, or DMV, or any government building in WA.

If you own a home in Washington, or a camper, or a boat, or travel into Washington in a camper, or a boat, then it counts as a residence and further more restrictive laws apply.

All of your firearms must be locked in gun safes whenever they are either not on your person, or within an area deemed within your immediate control. If you get home from work, take your carry gun off your belt and set it on the kitchen table, then go into the bathroom to take a leak, you have now violated the law.

If you have to stop by the post office to pick up a package, and take your carry pistol off and lock it in the glovebox of your car, and it gets stolen, then you are a criminal. If whoever stole it from you commits a crime or shoots someone else with your stolen firearm, then the state of Washington will declare YOU the criminal and put you in jail for up to a year and fine you thousands of dollars. It's absolutely insane, but is completely true.

I am selling everything and moving out of WA and never returning. They hate America and the Constitution.

Beretta 84FS since 1993. Never once failed to fire... Not once. My gun is not poop. Yes, it's a 380, but fits perfectly in my hand and why I got it. And I can shoot the eyes out of a snake at 25 yards with it. I love making cands dance. My gun is NOT poop.

Perfect little small unarmed towns are prime locations to reintroduce wolves, wolverines, grizzly bears, allosouras, etc. Courtesy of the urbanite voters who wish to see them all out running wild along the highway killing and eating whatever meat. Can't even shoot them unless you're physically attacked with substantial proof and have contacted a wildlife officer to do so.

Right there with you brother. I live in Cathlamet, and although it still is a conservative town with a sheriff that says he won't enforce many of these ass-clown laws, I am still looking east. We recently took the RV and traveled through Idaho and Montana. The minute I crossed the border into Idaho up near Spokane, the fuel prices dropped $1.25 and the pot holes disappeared. IRT the 2nd amendment, don't forget they just passed a new one requiring all of us to take a live fire shooting course and getting a card that "allows" us to purchase a firearm. The card expires every 5 years so there's that too... We are moving as soon as we find a place in Montana we like and can afford.

I dredged up a couple of my firearms from the site of the tragic boat accident. ;)

Both of them are M&P 15-22 model EBR (Evil Black Rifle) made by Smith & Wesson. Lots of fun and with a good optic, accurate as all get out to the effective range of .22LR

Mine:

And here is the one that belongs to the Mrs. :

I'd heard so many great things about this model so I picked one up for myself for Christmas a few years ago. It's been one of my least reliable and least accurate rifles. It's currently back at S&W having the barrel replaced under warranty. Hoping it gets fixed right this time.

I also found my 15-22 to be terribly inaccurate. I didn’t have any reliability issues with it but it was so inaccurate that it wasn’t fun to shoot.
