Yeah, agree the reciprocity of a license would be nice and save hassles.
Texas passed the "Constitutional Carry" a few years ago, that made me decide to not renew my conceal carry permit.
No we just have a ton of idiots walking around Home Depot and HEB with a G34 strapped to their hip like they think they're John Wick.....
It's kinda confusing here. You can open carry without a permit, BUT you need a CCW permit to conceal carry.Wasn't that a pass for open carry? Thought you still needed a CCH to conceal carry there.
I like John Wick. He did normally conceal his pistol. Had a good kill/death ratio?Texas passed the "Constitutional Carry" a few years ago, that made me decide to not renew my conceal carry permit.

Crossbreed holster for me.Ordered a holster for my 19-9 k frame carry comp. It was for a 3” so I cut it down to fit the 2.5” I reworked all the edges to make it look like i didnt just chop it. I also re worked the trigger guard area that was contacting the rosewood grips. I swapped to the black grip to check fit and left them on. I think I can contour the trigger guard area a little more and really make it perfect still. It may get an optic in the future so I’m glad they’re doing optics cuts.
Please note that I am very excited that this company is making revolver kydex and I shared the small issues I had with them so they could improve their product. They responded quickly and they sent me a label to return it and make it right. I chose not to send it back. I enjoyed modifying the holster and making it work for me and I have no issues with the company

Here in GA a permit or “weapons carry license” isn’t required now that we have “constitutional carry” but having a license does have its benefits still.
You get reciprocity in other states that recognize our license (many states do) and you still get to skip NICS at the LGS. I still keep mine up to date.
I wonder why this doesn’t work for your state it’s a pre exemption box on the 4473

Box 29? I believe the state still has to offer that as an exemption option.
Box 28 is expected if you're picking up a completed NFA. I've never had to do a secondary 4473 picking up an approved can.
Yep our 4473 does not look like that at all. Back in 2022 I got delayed and went down to the state police HQ and had some words. That was cleared and 2 days later I was delayed again lol. I dont have issues anymore but there was times random people we just having a hell of a time. I believe I am the only person with my name its very rare.
I didn’t know some states permits didn’t satisfy that box 29. Learned something newUnpossible. It's a Federal form. They do get updates. Suggest you look up the current 4473. FFL's are generally allowed to use up old paper form stocks but so many are all electronic now anyway.
Just saying again, a state still has to permit the use of a CHP, FOID, etc. to bypass NICS via a state statute when completing a required 4473 for retail sales and/or gunshows or private depending on state.

UPDATE: Effective immediately, the Wisconsin concealed weapon license does not qualify as an alternative to running a background check through the National Instant Check System. A previous letter providing guidance that those licenses did qualify was based on a review of Wisconsin statutes...www.atf.gov
In the now onerous anti-2A liberal run state of Colorado, we also have to pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation check in addition to NICS regardless of permit. Ditto for private sales now since 2013 and all gunshow sales since 2000. For reference Columbine was 1999 and Aurora was 2012.
ATF Form 4473, also known as the Firearms Transaction Record, is used by Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) to document the sale or transfer of firearms. Box 29 on the form serves a specific purpose related to the background check process. Here's a breakdown of its allowed use:Box 29: NICS Exemption
- Purpose: This box is used to indicate that a NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) check is not required for the firearm transfer because the transferee (buyer) possesses a valid permit that qualifies as a NICS exemption under federal law.
- NICS Exemption: Certain state-issued permits, typically those for concealed carry or firearm purchase, may be recognized by the ATF as equivalent to a NICS check.
- If Applicable: If the transferee presents a valid permit that meets the NICS exemption criteria, the FFL should mark box 29 and record the relevant information about the permit.
- Skip NICS Check: When box 29 is used, the FFL does not need to contact NICS to perform a background check for that particular transaction.
In SummaryBox 29 on Form 4473 is utilized when a transferee presents a valid state permit that exempts them from the standard NICS background check requirement. The FFL should consult the ATF's guidelines and regulations to determine which state permits qualify for this exemption. https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regul.../gun-control-act/brady-law/brady-permit-chart
Bottom line, we're glad for those of you living in free states.

In Nevada, once you get your CCW, you can buy a gun and walk out with it then. No background check needed. Just a valid CCW. Not sure how it works for suppressor though.
