So.. I just have to share.

I was under my truck yesterday looking at the mounting area for step bars as I'm looking at the AMP power step and Rough Country's version. As I was under there, I was just amazed at the number of wires and connectors everywhere! I came from a 2009 BigHorn 1500 that was decently equipped but still pretty basic compared to my new 2023 Bighorn 2500.

First thing I noticed was an odd (to me) device right under the driver side with a wire plugged into it. I'm thinking to myself "What the heck is this thing?" Well, google image search came to my rescue and I found out is a "Damper" or also called ATMM Actuator. I am still not completely sure what this thing does... lol.1000003009.jpg

I decided to look under my hood and right away there is a little bundle of wires by the in the back that I have no clue what they're for. I'll have to get a picture of those too and hope google can help me out.

It's been interesting with all this tech.

This is on a 2500?? Is it a Hemi? I dont think I have seen this on any of my 3500 Cummins trucks.

Yes, its a 2023 2500 Hemi that does have MDS.

Interesting, I did not think the HD trucks used MDS on the 6.4 Hemi. I had a Challenger Scatpack and I hated the MDS - I always kept it in Sport Mode. It would drive me nuts on a HD truck I think.

It's a HEMI only thing when the MDS kicks in. It's a tuned mass dampener. It makes an opposite frequency of harsh frequencies coming out of your motor, so you dont feel it. Sorta like noise cancelation, but for vibrations.

There's one on the passenger side too.

Noise cancellation in the cab and now its outside the cab? I guess whatever it takes to make things quieter/smoother?

I'm going to try and figure out the other wires when I get home from work today. It's just a bundle that comes from somewhere but isn't plugged into anything.

EDIT: I'm thinking they're for my aux switches

ram left it off many of the 2022 trucks tho when there was the shortage of parts so it must not be that big of a deal. my 2020 has them but I know there were several reports of people discovering they were not on their 2022 gassers.

There are wiring diagrams for the Aux switches that shows what all those wires are. They are online but also should have come in the bag with wires in your truck.

Where is the bundle located?

Aux has 2 4-pin plugs (dark and light grey), there's also 4-5 "passthrough" blunt cut wires.

Find the sticky on the "in cab power" and it has all the details.

Yeah, it's the wiring for the Aux switches.

Maybe some day I'll find something to use them for.
