What's the most annoying thing about your truck?

Well now that I took delivery of my truck and have had it for a day here's my first impressions:
1) seats are not comfortable
2) Laramie doesn't come with rubber mats!!!
3) the ride... terrible , I'll explain in a bit
4) steering wheel tilt and not extending
5) uconnect not always working

I'm coming from a 2018 Ford Raptor, so I know the ride isn't the same, but man it's dramatically different. Time to do some major suspension work on this new pig

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

Uconnect 5 is terrible. Will not allow me to open my apps most days unless I do a soft reset. Cannot get the weather app to work. Worked off and on for first 6 months and now will not work at all. Hope it’s not part of ram connect. Wish they had used the Sirius/Xm weather.
Most days I don't need the app page, but it is annoying when it won't allow you to access it on demand. That said, I've found if you remote start, the app page works every time.

I thought the same thing about the seats on mine when I picked it up but after 5k miles I actually think they are great. They are not the most soft/plus seats Ive ever had but they are supportive and I never get lower back tightness/pain like I do in my other vehicles.

After a few thousand miles I agree with the automatic lights dimming the dash lights too early. They're hard to see for a while so I went back to running the headlight switch myself. Someone else mentioned that.

And I'm adding the seats. The leather seems very nice but the padding is too firm. I'm hoping it softens up a bit but I'm only about 175# so..... I'm ok for a couple hours then I can't get comfortable anymore. I just made a 1500 mile round trip in 26 hours with a buddy in his 2012 Laramie and never was uncomfortable.

Hey @waveslayer, I'm definitely with you on some of these:-

1. I think the seats in my Laramie are awesome. But I ride dirt bikes, and they have seats like 2x4s LOL
2. Husky X-act Contour is a great solution
3. I came out of a 1/2 ton as well (see my sig and profile pic), but am good with the ride most of the time. The only weird scenario is traveling on some stretches of concrete interstate. I don't have an issue with the expansion joints, but some of the areas have a rippled surface, and it feels like a giant vibrator
4. I have arms like a gorilla, so no worries about the steering wheel
5. Yep - sometimes the Uconnect doesn't connect....

"Feels like a giant vibrator".... my wife just ordered a 3500 regular cab for some reason.

I HATE the tailgate being locked with the doors ! I'm a contractor and am in and out of the bed of the truck all day every day and every stinking time I reach for the tailgate its locked and I have to fish the fob out of my pocket. The other thing is the exhaust brake wont work in low range. Truck with a 8500 # excavator and 2500# trailer and 10miles of downhill forest service road at 5 m.p.h. means I'm on the brakes the whole way down. Would be a piece of cake if the exhaust brake would come on. Any one know if it could be programed to work?

I just got my 2022 Laramie about a month ago (May 15) and have discovered that with the proximity function, the tailgate works separately from the door. In other words, it behaves like it's unlocked if you have the key fob in your pocket (but be prepared for the 3 beeps).

Disregard----- On my truck ('21 uconnect 4) you can set wether the tailgate locks with the doors or not. Might be different for uconnect 5??----- Disregard

I was mistaken, not a setting on my truck either

Unless I’m misunderstanding what you are describing, this can’t be done because the tailgate doesn’t technically lock. Can you post a picture of the exact radio setting that (you think) accomplishes this?

I'll snap a picture tomorrow if I can find the setting again, but if you're saying it can't be done now I'm second guessing myself. I might be remembering a setting on our '17 3500 uconnect instead. I'll update/correct myself tomorrow once I look at both trucks

I just drove home from Utah... did over 800 miles. My A is killing me. I have driven that route over 100 times!!! My Suburban and Raptor is plush, CADILLAC plush compared to it. My 8 year old even complained, "dad My utterly and back hurts" not to rip on it, but for the money I paid I'd expect as good as the Raptor, which I paid less for.

Overall I like it, just different.

Not sure if you mentioned in another thread but if you just took delivery definitely drop your tire pressure. It kills the ride. They're delivered over 90 psi in most cases and you can drop into 40-60, depending on your comfort/load.

Just brought mine home yesterday, didn't drive anywhere near that number of miles.
1 - Seats - I agree, they are comfortable, but not nearly as comfortable as my Tundra was
2 - Mats - It would be nice if they were included, I'll be ordering the Xact contour ones before too long
3 - Ride - It was a bit harsh, but was anticipating that since the tires are at 90psi and it's a heavy duty, I'll be dropping the tire pressure today.
5 - UConnect - So far it's working fine. But - at the dealer when we paired the pohone we couldn't get access to the Apps page, it kept saying "no phone connected" even though it was working in carplay, etc. A reset holding the power button seemed to correct it and hasn't come back yes.

It is significantly larger/higher that my Tundra was, and I'm not exactly tall. I skipped the deployable bed step, regretting that and will be ordering and installing it in the near future. Another odd feeling to get used to is the lane change/correction, interesting feeling when it adds the torque to the steering wheel to get you back in the lane.

Overall, I really like the truck. Can't wait to get a trailer hooked to it and really test it out.

First world problems I know but.....

The delay in the automatic side steps is pretty damn annoying, and I forget just about every time I get out of the truck. I wish they were quicker but hey.

The uConnect system. For something that is so big and is such a presence in the truck, one would think they would make sure it worked flawlessly.
I preferred the OLD UConnect vs the NEW one in 22's. It was simpler and more intuitive...

We all love our trucks but nothing is perfect. What's the most annoying thing to you about your truck?

I'll start: I used my truck to go to the airport today for a business trip. First time in a while given the pandemic. As I pull up to the hourly parking garage (a necessary expense when you have a busy day and arrive 60 minutes before departure) the machine won't spit out a ticket and the gate won't open. Then I see the warning light: "overheight vehicle, go to long term parking." This means an extra 30 minutes to get to my gate, which caused me to miss my flight. So it's annoying that I can't use this truck to go to the airport for business travel anymore.

How about you?
NOT HAVING A STEP FOR THE BED... OK, now I feel better. But, I was able to buy one of the pop down ones for like 275 off of Amazon that is a complete copy of OEM and install it in about 30 minutes easy... I mean it is really an easy DIY install for others that have the same frustration... That alone makes the bed utility package I didn't get worth it... It helps a lot. I can now get in the bed without throwing myself in frontways and heaving my leg up... Sheesh... I was eyeing those built in ones on the GM trucks and drooling there for awhile while dreaming of aftermarket rear bumpers...

Yes, I had them drop them to 62 for me to tow after getting miles on it making loops around Salt Lake, Park City, Heber, and Happy Valley.

Just the seats themselves aren't comfy

I was just commenting on this!!! I step on it before its fully deployed.

Anyone know if I'm going to ruin these by doing that? I guess this beat up body has it still to move so fast

Interesting to hear that. I put Amp's on mine and absolutely love them.
