I'm 70 years old and have resisted extended service contracts all of my life....until I bought my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Just the price of replacing the durned radio in the thing scared me so I bought the MaxCare Lifetime. Then along came the 8.4AN radios so I bought the Lifetime MaxCare on my wife's 2014 Grand Cherokee. I got jealous of my wife's 8 speed tranny and 8.4AN radio so I sold my 2011 and bought a 2019 Grand Cherokee.....and, since they no longer offer Lifetime, I bought the 8 year, 60,000 miles MaxCare with $200 deductible...for about half the price of buying a replacement 8.4AN. I have a 2020 Laramie with the 12" radio on order and you can bet your bippy I will be spending that $1100 to $1300 on an 8 year, 60,000 warranty on it too. As sure as shoot if I don't buy the MaxCare that radio will pop chip at 3 years and a day....or the air suspension will burn a compressor. I look at driving a $70,000 vehicle with no extended warranty like having unprotected sex....sure, you will get away with it most of the time....but it only takes once to get something Ajax won't take off. I understand the resistance to buying the extended warranty....but if you can afford it you will feel a lot less nervous when the 3 year warranty runs out.
