Dealer called to tell me truck was in railyard and to get my truck sold. Listed on FB that night. Next day at lunch he called to say no keys so I had to withdraw my truck sale ad on FB. Have been calling weekly since. He later said about 40 were there without keys, later the number became 70. Don't know if he misspoke or not. Now we learn other railyards have vehicles with stolen keys & batteries. Lead shortage you know. Seems like FCA needs to invest in some security. Destination charge of $1795 and you would expect some basic security.@Paul Edwards how’d you find out the key fobs were missing?
Now THAT I would consider a legitimate gripe.Dealer called to tell me truck was in railyard and to get my truck sold. Listed on FB that night. Omg this is not what I want to hear. My truck is supposed to arrive at the Denver railyard today. What dealer were you working with?I had money down on one (I did not order it, was dealer inventory) through a Colorado Dealership. It has been sitting at a rail yard in Denver since December; I put my money on it on 2/7. Another buyer had put money on it in December but backed out in January after waiting for better than a month. I found another truck in Arkansas that I went to pick up on 3/7 so I pulled my money back that day. The Colorado dealership still had no idea when the other truck would come in. The folks in Arkansas told me that in many cases, what is happening is that keys are being lost at the rail yards, vehicles are misplaced and the workers cannot find them, not enough workers. etc. The dealerships are caught between a rock and a hard place - they have buyers lined up but no product and they can't do anything to fix the situation.
Faricy Boys out of Salida.Omg this is not what I want to hear. My truck is supposed to arrive at the Denver railyard today. What dealer were you working with?
A dealer has no leverage at all with the rail yard. The rail yard doesn't work for a single manufacture but rather they accept cars from every manufacture. Depending on when the rail was unloaded and the location of the unit you want it can be a lengthy wait. They unload cars and trucks and stack them as deep as possible. If your vehicle arrived and was one of the first unloaded from the rail it usually is one of the last to leave the rail yard.Absolutely.... but when is "too long". What kind of leverage do I have with the dealer?
My truck was stuck at the rail yard in Kansas City headed to Granger Motors too. Finally made it to the Dealership yesterday. They said they received 40 trucks yesterday so hopefully yours was one of them. Unfortunatley they couldn’t get mine ready for a pickup today so I don’t get to pick it up until Tuesday. It was unloaded from the train in Kansas City and is headed to Granger Motors in Iowa.
Mine was finally delivered as part of that load too. I haven’t heard from the finance department yet, but already have a plane ticket to head out there and pick it up on Thursday. My truck was stuck at the rail yard in Kansas City headed to Granger Motors too. It doesn't go to Denver...that's just the regional sales zone.I noticed my equipment listing has a line that shows "Zone 74-Denver". I guess that means my truck will be going through Denver? That's a bit surprising to me as I'm many times closer to Kansas City than I am to Denver. Back when I was looking at new trucks last fall I know a local dealer, about 30-40 miles from the dealer where I purchased, said that they were waiting for some trucks that were in transit from Kansas City. But my dealer which is just over the state line from that dealer will be waiting for transports from Denver which is at least 650 miles away while we're 100 miles from Kansas City? Maybe I'm missing something?
I suppose I'm just a bit paranoid about all the extra mileage in transit, especially across so many miles of the desolate SW, adding to the opportunity for damage and/or vandalism. The last new truck I spec'd and ordered arrived with damage and I ended up paying for it and living with it later. I'm hoping to have a better experience this time, especially since I'm spending more than twice as much on this one.
Paul, My 2022 2500 6.4L Laramie is stuck in Petersburg too and my dealer (Haley) is no help saying there is nothing they can do. I too have a trip coming up that I was going to use it on. I fear that it has been damaged/needs repair, batteries stolen, keys missing...etc. What dealer/salesman are you dealing with and how did you find out about the missing keys?I have a 2022 2500 6.4L Tradesman that arrived at the Petersburg, VA railyard Feb 12th missing key fobs and we are still waiting almost 5 weeks now. I put 1000 down and feel stuck. Can't even find one on a lot within five to six hours I would want, assuming the ones I see online are still on dealer lot. I need for camping trip early April. Was hoping to have time to "break it in" before towing 10 hours one way.

Hey, Bob. Finally got delivery this past Saturday at Quinn Motors. Mine arrived at the Railyard Feb 12th. The dealer notified me few days later that the keys were missing. Just keys no batteries at this yard best of my knowledge. The lack of details was very frustrating and was the basis of my concern. We were under a timeline for packing up for a camping trip and I needed the new truck. Anyway, took 5 1/2 weeks to get to dealership. Dealer talked with staff regularly at the railyard, but I felt I never knew what was going on and was concerned the whole problem was low priority for FCA. IT would have been better had I been told there was a gameplan for solving the problem, say in two weeks they will have keys and few days later truck will arrive locally. BUT, NO ONE seemed to know anything. Once I heard that up to 70 vehicles were involved, I had a glimmer of hope that something would be done--lots of dealers involved and lots of invoiced vehicles sitting unsold. HOpe you get your truck soon my friend. My first RAM and so far I absolutely LOVE IT! Got it just in time to do the recommended 500 mile no-tow break in along with the 500 mile "slow tow" period. I wish you the best!Paul, My 2022 2500 6.4L Laramie is stuck in Petersburg too and my dealer (Haley) is no help saying there is nothing they can do.
