Due to the truck and trucker shortage, today marks my trucks 30th day in the rail yard waiting for a ride to the dealership. It’s seems like forever, but I’m sure it’s not the longest someone has had to wait to see their truck make that last leg to the dealer. So what’s the record for the longest wait?

Which rail yard/dealer?

It was unloaded from the train in Kansas City and is headed to Granger Motors in Iowa.

The truck I ordered has been sitting on a rail car since January 23rd, batteries stolen out of it and most likely the key fob. They can't even get it off the train! The regional sales guy could not even give me an estimate of when it would be repaired. I have since found another truck on a dealers lot which is actually better. Damaged trucks sit until they are fixed and sometimes the dealer has no knowledge of the issue.

Too bad they don’t offer a way for you to pick it up or have it shipped privately :/
I asked the dealer... Says FCA will not allow it despite being three km from my house.

GHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !

Great, pretty sure our local dealers said our trucks come from KC. Since I found out mine was built last week I was hoping to have it by 4-18. I suppose that's not going to happen now.

Always makes me nervous when trucks I have ordered are stuck in shipping delay. Makes me suspicious that something was damaged and the are using the delay to throw some spackle at it. I trust no one…not the dealers and definitely not corp.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for an O/O trucker with a vehicle trailer to start making more money
Absolutely.... but when is "too long". What kind of leverage do I have with the dealer?

The dealer told me they have over 100 vehicles in Kansas City waiting to be delivered to them. I thought it sounded like a good opportunity for them to start their own trucking company and take control of the process

They hardly do what they should be doing, you will never see them go above and beyond lol

I had money down on one (I did not order it, was dealer inventory) through a Colorado Dealership. It has been sitting at a rail yard in Denver since December; I put my money on it on 2/7. Another buyer had put money on it in December but backed out in January after waiting for better than a month. I found another truck in Arkansas that I went to pick up on 3/7 so I pulled my money back that day. The Colorado dealership still had no idea when the other truck would come in. The folks in Arkansas told me that in many cases, what is happening is that keys are being lost at the rail yards, vehicles are misplaced and the workers cannot find them, not enough workers. etc. The dealerships are caught between a rock and a hard place - they have buyers lined up but no product and they can't do anything to fix the situation.

I have a 2022 2500 6.4L Tradesman that arrived at the Petersburg, VA railyard Feb 12th missing key fobs and we are still waiting almost 5 weeks now. I put 1000 down and feel stuck. Can't even find one on a lot within five to six hours I would want, assuming the ones I see online are still on dealer lot. I need for camping trip early April. Was hoping to have time to "break it in" before towing 10 hours one way.

You're scaring me dude... I'm PRAYING that my delivery is just "pending"...

After four plus weeks stuck in the rail yard, I’m beginning to feel the same way. Starting to feel like I’m not getting the whole truth from the dealer and they’re using the lack of truck drivers as an excuse.
