As others have said, I try to avoid buying first year anything with a major revision. Obviously, if you're not in the market for the diesel (with the first-year 8 Spd trans) the PW looks to just have a few more safety nannies, as has been said. Nothing monumental.
I think vehicles have become a bit like android and iPhones, you just buy what you need, when you need it. There is always an improved version just a few months down the road, but it won't be monumentally better.
The American truck builders have done an incredible job of trickle-dripping minor changes to front grilles, interiors, wheels, paint colors, etc. They want us to think these things are so vastly improved year over year that it's worth the depreciation hit to upgrade every couple years. And the constantly changing bodywork makes the 2-3 year old trucks look ancient, and that's how they want it.
Tesla gets a lot of flak for never changing anything, but it also doesn't mean a 1 year old Y looks that different from a 4 year old Y.
