Good afternoon.
New 3500 owner - 2022 6.7 Cummins.
We just towed our 25’ trailer and I was wondering what’s the best option to improve towing and power. Yes I know don’t tow a trailer, go only 50mph and so on. Thinking of going full time for a year and getting a 5th wheel.

Thanks for your help in advance!

You have plenty of power to tow a 25’ trailer as is..good hitch setup is more important than power.

I know that, was actually more referring to towing a fifth wheel down the road. Actually thought I’m getting better mileage when towing our current trailer

Still going to be plenty of power with the added benefit of longevity. Adding power for towing and not doing supporting modifications is a recipe for failure. A HP tune will require additional airflow (turbo) stronger driveline (trans). Back with the 2nd gen trucks power was cheap and easy minus trans work. These new trucks come with plenty of safe and efficient power and when you start adding more is gets pricy quick.
if anything some suspension mods can help towing performance along with 5th wheel hitch upgrades, that part I can’t help with but others may.

Thanks again, I only got 10 mpg and thought fuel economy would be much better considering I’m only towing 600bs though, that’s why I’m curious….

What type of terrain and what speeds do you tow at?

I've been very happy with Calibrated Power tunes with the switch on the fly dial.

At last that long on a 22, since tuning takes a new ECM.
Yep that was in my factor if it was a 19-21 its 100-125k roughly

The ROE milage has dropped since the 13-18 due to the increased DEF usage of the 4.5 gens (if we are talking delete tunes)

Like Mooney said, I too have been very happy with Calibrated Power's emissions intact tunes (duramaxtuner.com), their SOTF, and their outstanding service. And now they are EPA compliant.

Several companies out there offering a single tune without an ECM swap, but none of them are emissions friendly, and they do not offer transmission tuning along with it.

Between the cost for one of said tunes, and a Randy’s tuneless valve body, you’re back up there with the cost of an ECM swap.

It’s an expensive proposition either way.

Who is offering tunes for the 22+ ECM? I hadn't seen where anyone had cracked the ECM yet.

So it worth it considering minimal savings in fuel economy when everything is done…

I’d rather not out the companies that I have found on a public forum, but I’d be happy to share the two that I have talked to so far via pm.

Fuel economy gains will never pay off the tune & delete.

Only benefit to any sort of tune would be for someone who has an incurable regen issue and simply just want it to be over with for good, or someone with deep pockets who wants to crank up the motor and start breaking ****.
