I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with these online companies or CarMax or any where else buying their vehicle from them instead of just trading in at the dealer? If anyone has info on what online places or spot like CarMax is best I’d appreciate hearing where I should try to look into. Thanks in advance

Vroom, Carmax, Carvanna... all reputable companies that will cut a check on the spot.

Ive used Vroom once and Carmax 2x. Easy, smooth transactions all 3 times.

With CarMax did you do it online or take it in for someone to look at?

I did not trade in but I tried a few of the online buyer companies, including CarMax for my 2001 Ford F-350 V10 with 80,000 miles. Never got a response from any of them. A couple, like Vroom were not available in Oregon. Really wanted to avoid the hassle of putting in on Craigs List or some other online sites and dealing with a private buyer. But that may be the only option for me. There was one online site that I don't remember the name of that lets you list your vehicle and when a buyer comes forward, the site acts as a third party for the payment. Looked like a great idea, but again not available in Oregon, supposedly because Oregon law does not allow for third parties in auto sales.

LOL,

I looked to see what carmax would offer. They probably don't believe I have a like new 2020 with only 5K on it.

P.S. They don't have an option listing for HO.

We'd like to see your Ram 3500 (I bet you would)

Online offers are based on recent appraisals of similar cars, and we haven't seen many like yours lately. For your 7-day offer, stop by your local CarMax.

My current truck is a 2020 1500 ecodiesel, I got the same screen as you haha guess I’ll have to take a trip down there

My buddy sold his 2020 Duramax to this outfit for original msrp. they came to Missoula MT and paid him on the spot. He said it was absolutely painless. he said the guy was a buyer for them and asked if he knew anyone else selling a newer full size truck as they were buying. my buddy made $10,000 on the deal when all was said and done.

Carmax, i drove to the local dealer and the deal was done in person in a few hours. With Vroom (I sold my 2016 cummins Ram to them in 2019), i uploaded a ton of pictures along with title info, driver's license etc etc. The next day they sent me an offer on email. I accepted, printed offer, notarized, then they sent a truck to pick up my truck. I received payment about a week later once they got confirmation from the trucking company that my truck was in their possession.

I sold my truck to carmax one time. No problems at all and everything went quick. Other time what I did is went to carmax to get appraisal. Next I went to a dealer that had car I want and told him I want to trade in. They offered me less then carmax so I told them I will be back in couple of days because first I need to sell it to carmax. They matched the offer so we could do the deal same day :)

I am selling my car so I can buy my Power wagon.
2015 Hyundai genesis 5.0 with 40K miles.
Retail is $25K.
I had contacted Carvana. They have offered $23,700. They are supposed to come pick it up in a week.
I just checks Carmax. They just offered $21K.
So I'm going with Carvana.
I'll post back once the deal is done.

We sold my wife's Range Rover to Carmax. They beat the local dealers but the dealer I bought my truck from in Texas offered us $500 more. Since my truck was already en route we could have just loaded it on the trailer. We took the faster route with Carmax. They cut the check right there.

I just traded my 2016 2500 at my local Ram dealer. They offered me a price but also said they'd match Carmax if they're higher. I didn't even bother checking as the dealer offer seemed pretty fair against a truck I wanted.

Another note for Vroom here, done two deals with them and it was very easy. friends have also used Shift.com with good success.

I Vroom priced my 2500 and then ended up selling to dealer today, they offered almost what I paid for it. Since I have another car, I’m stepping back and waiting for the shortages to work themselves out and then hopefully I will be able to buy a new model for less.

If things work out like I hope and I can get a 2022 with an Allison trans and Uconnect 5, I will be a happy man.

Get your quotes before you go to the dealer and then decide what you want to do.

Im not aware of any ZF offering on the HD trucks, but it appears the trans options arent changing for 2022 from what weve seen so far.

Just for sh*ts and grins, I contacted Carvana, Carmax and Vroom and received a quote for selling my 2020 Tradesman 2500, 6.4 gasser. Carvana offered $42,750, Carmax $46,000 and Vroom $46,650. My Tradesman has a few options but nothing special and I only paid $43,450 back in September. I really don't want to sell but damn, getting 3 grand more that you paid is a little tempting.
