Too much oil and poor dealer help

@Dinky503 any updates? new year, new truck?

No new truck.... thought about it a lot but don't really want to spend more money and trade in value on Rams are way down. It will cost me either way ar this point.

Nothing new really. My regens cycles are around 100 miles +/- Best one i had was 371 miles. Definitely not fixed in my opinion and oil is climbing a touch but I am taking it in for oil change this morning. Still no CEL so Ram will not do anything else for regen.

I still have the knocking sound going on and the vibration is still there. I am actually taking the truck back into the dealership Wednesday the 15th. Hopefully they can find what is causing the ruckus on that part.

I’m guessing they tweaked yer CEL trigger limits because they are tired of you.…but maybe I’m just cynical.

I’ve been tracking the frequent regeneration issue for a while now. 60%+ of the trucks reporting frequent regeneration issues are 2022’s. Your engine oil was overfull specifically because of the frequent regeneration. I’ve seen this over and over. If you’re not someone who actively monitors their regeneration cycles, the truck will do it every 100 miles or less in some scenarios. That frequency is sometimes just enough that it doesn’t trip DTC P2459, but plenty often to cause severe fuel dilution in the crankcase. I had two owners send me their oil analysis reports recently (both are having frequent regeneration issues) and both had high levels of fuel dilution. One was about 6% fuel dilution in 3,000 miles. If left unchecked regen frequency can spiral out of control. It will increase oil level due to excessive fuel, then this causes the CCV filter to become saturated because excessive amounts of oil vapor get drawn into the ventilation system. Ultimately it’ll pool in the intake of the turbocharger and be pressed into the intake air stream where it further compounds the regen frequency problem. Ram engineering (STAR) is fully aware that they have a problem with these regen frequency issues, especially in 2022 trucks. I can provide you with more information if you’d like, or you can check out the running threads I have on this over in the powertrain section.
Any fix to the regen problem? My truck has been doing it every 10 to 300 miles after they replaced my DPF and added the y43 recall sensor. Then my grid heater went out and was replaced... EGR had a ton of soot in it and the grid heater was almost blocked... the last 2 things they have tried is replaced MAF sensor (didn't fix) just got it back from them replacing the exhaust back pressure switch (we will wait and see) any info would be great... thanks Donny

Any issues with the EGR side? Regen frequency is still a difficult issue to solve. So many systems tie in.

Anything new?

Torque Converter was replaced along with trans cooler and everything flushed. I have not triggered CEL so Ram will not look into the regens any further. My regens are 76-400ish best i can get. i would say 150 mile average. I would say the still cant figure it out and Ram does not want to spend more money on it.

[HELP] Ongoing P2459 Issues After DPF Replacement – Ram 2500 6.7L – Ram Customer Care Not Responding

I’ve been dealing with a frustrating and unresolved issue on my 2022 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins since May 26, 2025, and I’m hoping someone here has advice or has been through something similar. At this point, I feel like I’m getting nowhere with Ram Customer Care or the dealership.

What Happened:

  • I originally got code P2459 (“DPF Regeneration Too Frequent”) on my personal scan tool and brought it to the dealership.
  • They ignored it and claimed the issue was the mass air flow sensor (MAF). So, they replaced the MAF sensor.
  • The problem didn’t go away — regen cycles kept happening way too often and fuel consumption was ridiculous.
  • I scheduled another visit and showed P2459 still active on my scanner, but the dealership claimed they couldn’t find it in their system.
  • I had to request a freeze frame, and only THEN did they admit the code existed and started the process to replace the DPF.
  • DPF was replaced on 6/26/25. Problem still isn’t fixed — truck is still doing constant regens and using large amounts of fuel during the regen, and P2459 is still showing up.
  • I later checked my repair receipt and saw the dealership did not install the required exhaust gaskets (68379574AA and 68437471AA) that are listed in TSB 25-005-24 REV. B — so they didn’t even follow the bulletin properly.

Ram Customer Care Experience:

  • I’ve called multiple times and been hung up on three different occasions.
  • My case manager won’t return calls or emails — completely unresponsive.
  • I was offered CDI pricing by (Mike McDonald and Steve Stander) but was never given the code or how to use it.
  • Earlier in this process, I formally requested that all communications from Steve and Mike be conducted via email to maintain a documented paper trail. Despite this request, I received an unexpected phone call in June, during which both Steve and Mike asked me why I preferred email. When I explained the need for transparency, they responded that they "didn’t see the need" to use email. To me, this was concerning—and felt like an effort to avoid leaving a record of our discussions, especially since important items like the CDI pricing offer were never properly followed up in writing.
  • I asked about the buyback process on 7/8/2025, and they told me it can only begin once the truck is at the dealership. Well, it IS — and now I’m being told I need to wait another two weeks for a diesel tech to look at it again.
  • No loaner vehicle. No resolution. Just silence.

Context:

This has been a horrible experience with no end in sight. This is my 4th time back at the dealership, and I still don’t have a working solution. I've got all documentation if anyone from Ram is actually watching this forum.

Has anyone else had this happen?

  • P2459 showing even AFTER DPF replacement?
  • Dealership skipping steps from the TSB?
  • Customer service blowing you off?
I’m open to any suggestions. I’ve been more than patient, but this is turning into a nightmare.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

There is not much you can do unless you have a good dealership you work with. How is your oil dilution? I had 3 bad injectors. Dealing with this myself they are just kicking the can down the road untill the buyback about gets low enough or you go away.

I haven’t had the opportunity to check for oil dilution yet, as I just recently came across this information. Additionally, I’ve barely had the truck in my possession long enough to monitor it properly—it’s spent the majority of the time at the dealership for ongoing issues. Given how frequent the regens have been, I’m now seriously concerned about potential fuel dilution in the oil, which may already be affecting internal components.

Yeah i don't know how much time you have this thread is now 50 pages long lol. I went a year in and out of the shop and still no fix to the problem.

It will be a breach of warranty contract. Magnuson act covers it doesn't matter who own it as long as it has manufacturer warranty left.
I don't believe the manufacturer warranty is still active. I do have a 3rd party warranty.

" TSBs are not recalls and are not automatic repair authorizations. However, if the repair is done under warranty (whether factory or extended), and the TSB applies to your vehicle, the repair becomes a warranty-covered service."
