Terrible Towing pics thread

Looks like he has the ac going in his camper while he waits for his Ev to charge

This one was a "little over" all the ratings. But before all the weight police jump all over me, it was just 4 miles of back roads from one farm to another.

It's too bad you can't see the homemade hitch. It's a high rise pintle and the chain in the middle of the flatbed provides support from the top of the hitch to the gooseneck ball.

I wish i had a chance to snap a picture but this idiot where we are camping just pulled out with a 30ft bumper pull on his toyota 1/2 ton with the magnetic lights on the bumper but the trailer plug was not hooked up i guess having lights is more important than fixing it so he can have brakes…

I saw a guy pull out of the camping spot next to us yesterday that was pulling at least a 30ft travel trailer plus a big heavy aluminum jon boat behind it with a half ton Ram. I didn't go inspect it but 99% sure that boat trailer didn't even have brakes. I doubt I would have wanted to get that rig up to the speed limit. I don't think he was an hour from home so maybe he'll make it without getting a ticket.

A lot of boat trailers have surge hydraulic brakes but still too much for a half ton truck

Yeah I've seen the surge brakes on boat trailers but I don't think his had any brakes. My main concern with his rig was that he was towing double with 2 bumper hitch trailers. That can get you a ticket here, as it can in most places. I bet that setup could get whippy on him in a hurry, and he didn't have much truck to control it.

Depends where he is plated for i know someplaces you can ball to ball tow and even the largest of aluminum boats are not that heavy but he should have trailer brakes on the truck and at least a 3/4 ton for the safety

He had KS tags, just like me. He wasn't legal. Front trailer needed to be a 5th wheel or gooseneck to pass muster.

I wasn't as concerned about the boat trailer and brakes situation as long as the camper had good brakes.

It looked like a lot to control behind a 1/2 ton. I don't mind weight, I just don't like stuff whipping, especially double hitched.
