Anyone running the Tazer Ram module?

I just found out/researched this and it fits a lot of my needs. Mainly tire size, fog lights, and TPMS warning light delete. There are many other features I don’t really need, but those are the ones I do need.

Looking at all options. I don’t own ANY Windows based computers OR Android based anything so Alpha OBD doesn’t really appeal to me, but I’m also not opposed to going that route.

Thanks for any info anyone can throw my way!

I've been running one for a couple months now. I enjoy it. You have the option to leave it plugged in or just plug it in for the changes and unplug it. I leave it in.
Used it to change my tire size, delete the fog light drop out with high beams, and fold the mirrors on shut down. That's all I've done so far. Have had a little issue with it messing up the auto-dim on the high beams after an exceptionally bad love bug season (dirty sensors) but I'm not complaining because I'm not actually a fan of the auto-dim. My high beams now work just like they would in a 2nd gen :D

Does anyone know what features alfaobd provides that the Tazer doesn't?

Its a long list of advantages to alfaobd… the only thing the tazer does/did that i like is allow you to use the fob to open the windows and the traction control hold button feature

FWIW, I contacted them with a few questions and they do not recommend it for the 2022 Rams due to some glitches they are trying to work out. They didn't specify what the issues were.

Was that for the Alpha?

Bumping an old thread. Anyone found out when Tazer might start working for Uconnect 5? Wanting to reprogram my truck for 37" tires and used Tazer on my 2021 Ram 1500 (Uconnect 4) super easily. Would rather not mess with AlphaOBD since I can't find any good clear cut step by step things and have seen people talk about locking up their trucks and having to have a dealer reset stuff for a lot of money. The Tazer is plug and play and straightforward which I prefer.

It still doesn't work 100% with my 2022, I'm even on a beta firmware from last year that they still haven't released to public. I had to pull the fuse for the radio to get it half way usable interface to configure my tire size and pressure. But I still leave it in b/c i like the power fold mirrors. One day I'll research another different one as it sucks not being able to really use any other feature. (I noticed zero difference will trying the different "tunes" didn't expect much but more than nothing, and it's a pain in the ass to pull the fuse every time i want to switch something).

The other nice feature of the Tazer is to Spoof 4-Lo allowing you to disconnect the electronic sway bar and disable other stuff while in 2H or 4H

Thanks for the response! I contacted them last Friday and they said they are hoping to release it this Summer for Uconnect 5 and they said to watch their social media for the announcement when it happens.

Did they mention if it's a new hardware or just firmware?

Nice to hear we'll finally have UC5 firmware. I've been keeping mine plugged in, but unmarried purely for the auto fold. Hopefully they'll also include the ability to kill the stupid horn honk when the key leaves the vehicle like they've done with the DT tazer.

Another note for you guys is that the Ram and Normal Tazer are actually the same hardware so if you come across one cheap you can reflash it either way using recovery firmware. That's what I did when I moved mine from my old Challenger to my 4th gen when I sold the car.

I didn’t realize you could still use the auto folding mirror part without it being married. That is one thing I miss most from my UC4 1500 I had. That and fog lights on while high beams on. Did you have to do anything special to get that to work since it doesn’t work with UC5?

Nope, I just leave it plugged into my bypassed OBD2 port behind the dash and it just works. For everything else I use AlfaOBD so my Tazer reflashed to Ram firmware was mostly just for the auto powerfold in my 4th gen and now the '22 as I had originally bought my Tazer for my '17 Challenger SRT that got sold when used car prices made it too tempting not to make money on it.

I see. That’s something else I need to look into is this truck requires a bypass and my last one didn’t. Do you have to get behind dash to undo it before you get it serviced? I’ve thought about alfaOBD but couldn’t find good enough clear cut instructions that gave me confidence in not messing up my truck so I’ve just been living with my speedometer being off for now.

I've always pulled it before dealer visits, but I did use a splitter for my bypass so I just have a 2nd port behind the dash. I installed a high quality splitter on the stock OBD2 plug with one end going to the stock location and one end going into this guy.
https://www.kaodtech.com/product-page/security-module-bypass. My truck only sees the dealer for recall work as I do my own service for everything else. Isn't really an issue out here with rural dealers and warranty, even having all sorts of aftermarket parts like the banks intake elbow/grid heater delete. 9 time out of 10 they ask me if I'm tuned to avoid to re-flashing the truck so one of those situations where I don't worry about the dealer.

Also Alfa really isn't too hard if you're familiar with professional grade scan tools or WiTech. There are plenty of threads such as :

and the bulk thread :

So long as you take a backup of the truck really the worst case is that you restore it.

It's really easy to unplug the bypass from the CAN blocks by pulling the headlight switch bezel so you can see what you're doing and then reaching up from below. Shave a little off each connector clip and you can pull them without using a tool.
