Stop sale on new diesels in cold climates? DEF freezing

Has anyone seen a reliable source saying that Ram issued a stop sale of diesel trucks in cold climate areas? I've seen 2 dealers say this on one of the FB Ram groups (I know it's FB so that's why I'm questioning it).
Apparently it's to do with the DEF freezing and they are claiming a recall will follow for all the 19+ trucks.

BS or can anyone confirm they have heard this as well?

haven't heard that officially but is def a known issue. I was a victim of it when I first bought my truck.
 
DEF freezes at +12°F. There is a DEF temp sensor and the truck stops using DEF when it might be frozen.

I’ve had my ‘22 down to -5°F and no issues.

Possibly but 2 dealers specifically said DEF issue and cold climate areas only. But I take that with a grain of salt that's why I was asking in a more "reliable" format. This seems more realistic.

I saw that NHTSA doc, but it's not clear to me why the 20+ trucks would be affected, but not the 19s?

Trust me its a big issue My 19 froze and gave me limp mode count down 5 times 2 times in 2020 and 3 times last year all at -30 to -45 °c range the dealer had to drop the tank after it thawed and clean the system the last time it cost me 500$ + 2500$ to ensure it never happens again!

so i can see it being a recall as the dealers had around 12+ trucks every time same issues.

Crazy, you would think they had this figured out by now.

Question. Does this only apply to the 68RFE transmissions & NON HO / Aisin equipped trucks? Being it states 2500 & 3500's & Aisns are only in HO 3500's...

Happened to me last week in Montana. system worked fine, but the gauge wouldn't register additional fluid being added which led to the limp mode warnings. Stopped at a dealer in Nebraska and tech spent an hour updating the computer and reflashing it. Process reset the guage and we got back on the road, no issues.

What was the ambient temp?

-30 to -45 C is VERY cold though, hell the wrong type of diesel will freeze in that.

Mopar has, as mentioned above, by reprogramming the truck not to use DEF below certain temps. Gives the heater in the DEF tank time to work.

But I'm kind of surprised nobody has come up with a "winter time" DEF that does not freeze.

They tried that it still does not work
