Thanks
When I took delivery of my dually, it was obvious that the dealer never bothered checking much of anything. I thought I would need dental work by the time I got home. All tires were way above what the door sticker said. All were between 75 and 95 psi. Regardless, loaded I run the door sticker. Unloaded I run 65 in front and 35 in the duals.I'll take a look at it PRS, thanks. I'm wondering why the dealer had them at 80 and made a point to tell me that. I'm guessing the 65psi max like you pointed out is because of the heat and increasing pressure when towing/hauling down the highway?
Older thread, I know, but I've been searching all the threads for troubleshooting my issue and this is the closest one I've found.
I've been empty for the past few weeks so I changed my selectable tire fill system to 'honk' at 60psi rear and 75psi front (down from the 80psi rear and 80psi front that the tires were inflated with at the dealership. The honk was nice, and allowed me to deflate all tires until I heard the honk. I deflated only because the truck just rode like a tank, and the dirt-strips showed that only the center 1/3rd of the rear tires were touching the roadway. (I hope this makes sense to someone)
Yesterday I went out to inflate the tires back up to 80psi since I was helping a neighbor pick up some pigs in a gooseneck stock trailer. I turned the selectable tire fill alert system on, and went to set the pressure thresholds back up to the 80psi for hauling - except it won't let me raise the rear above 65psi. On the display, the plus symbol is there, but when you hit the plus symbol to increase the psi to what you desire, it won't go above 65psi on the screen. So, I just used the compressor and tire fill gage (by hand) to raise my rear tires to 80psi and confirmed it on the dash display (EVIC?).
Can anyone tell me why I can't change my display to show 80psi on the selectable tire fill alert system - so I'll get a honk when filling the tires back up to 80psi?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
Truck is a '24 3500 Dually Bighorn with the Uconnect5 and 8.4" screen, not the nicer Laramie and Limited screen (near speedo) but the more simple one. The thresholds are set on the 8.4" screen, but the TPMS values show in the smaller screen near speedo.
I only tow twice a year, so it’s not a big deal to air up and down. If I was touring frequently, I would just use the door sticker values all the time.Every single Dally I have bought had 95 psi in all 6 tires.
I run 75 in the fronts and 65 in the rear - and ride is pretty good for me. I am too lazy to run the rears at 35 and then inflate them back to 65 to tow![]()

The front is easy. The duals are another story entirely. Pain in the butt. I broke down and bought the Lock-N-Flate for duals and that makes it somewhat easier.I’m constantly airing up and down for the load. It’s not a big deal and the ride/traction/wear improvements are quantifiable.
It does parking in my shop with an air compressor and having OBA for airing up after a weekend of camping where I air down to drive around.
I air up/down enough that I want to put the newer TPMS sensors in my hunting wheels to use STFA with them.
Use these. The OEM plastic ones on my dually wouldn't take air at all. Put these on all my tires. The plastic extensions on the inside duals are a PITA to inflate in my opinion. Takes some getting used to for sure
Be sure to use a straight chuck for that inner dual. I use this one. Thanks for the tip, those look good so I just did order a set for that price. Appreciate ya
