I'm looking at ordering a 2500 Ram. Comparing a Laramie with the 6.4 how I would want it to a Power Wagon how I would want it the price is very close. I don't currently do any heavy off roading and here in Alabama I'm not sure there are many trails a heavy duty would fit down. I do need to tow just shy of 10k a few times a year and I tow about 4k regularly. I really like the look of the Power Wagon and I could do more off roading on my annual trip out west if I had one but I'm sure the Laramie would tow better with it's higher payload and tow rating.

When trying to do a pros and cons list the thing I'm really not sure of is if the Power Wagon might have better resale value kind of like a Rubicon Wrangler tends to hold it's value a little better than a standard Wrangler. I've searched the forums and other places and haven't found any info on this. Do any of you know if there's any difference in how well these two trucks hold their value? I do tend to keep my trucks for 7-10 years.

Both trims you're contemplating I feel will hold their value very well. Who knows what the market will be in 7-10yrs, but my 2 cents is to get what know will suit you not just now but in a few years...towing, light off-roading, comfort, amenities and so on. You can always add lockers, winch and off-road suspension down the road on the Laramie. The Off-Road Package is nice, but will be rough off road. I wouldn't suggest getting it on the Laramie especially if you do plan on changing out the suspension. The Hill Decent control is very nice, but you have to decide if that is worth it...if you are looking at the Off-Road Pack.

Power Wagons will hold their resale value simply because of the niche category it fits into. I believe a 2500 Laramie would hold its value more with the 6.7 Cummins over the 6.4 Hemi.

Otherwise, get the truck you want/need today and don't worry about what the future owners will want.

Yep, get what fits your needs and makes you happy.
I started out looking at a TRX. Decided it wasnt worth the money. Got a 75th PW and love it. Has everything I need plus some creature comforts. Not disappointed at all.

I agree with the above recommendation, get what you want. We bought a new diesel since we like to camp and take a travel trailer. The last diesel I had was a Ford with the 6.9 non turbo diesel. A real slug compared to the turbo version. Since then I’ve been driving a gas engine. Traded my hemi 1/2 ton in on this 2021 Cummins and let me tell you, I wish I would have done this along time ago. I fought pulling trailers for the last 30 years and am kicking myself for not being more open minded on the diesel cost vs towing pleasure. That said, the point is if you like the pw get it, if you favor the Laramie, get it. Get the engine that suits your style and needs. Resale value is a very small thing compared to liking and enjoying what you bought. Speaking for myself, I hate the saying “you only live once” but when you have more years behind you then in front of you it does make sense.

Test drive them. I think you will find the power wagon has a really nice ride if you can live with the 10,000-11000 tow capacity and 1300-1565 pay load. If you need more of either there are better choices than the power wagon.
