Regens at alarming rate!

The Y43 recall requires a flash in order to program the truck with the necessary firmware to be able to communicate with the particulate matter sensor. Without the flash, the truck doesn’t know that sensor is there. I am unsure of wether or not that ECM / PCM flash also contains updated engine tuning recalibrations, however there are just as many trucks with Regen frequency issues that have not had that flash or recall completed. It is most definitely a concerning and growing problem that Ram needs to address immediately. (@RamCares are you following this thread?)


Do either of your trucks show any signs of soot present in the tail pipe? If you swipe your finger in the tailpipe does it come out black or partially black?
no idea on the soot in the tailpipe, i can look. I was just hoping to put my ass and gas in this thing not deal with all this.
Im hoping @RamCares can shed some light on this

I avoided the HO motor because of that trans snap ring issue but honestly had i known about the regens i would have bought the original brand i wanted. BUt like i said for 6k miles it was perfect TILL they did the recall
 
After reading this thread and others I refused to allow them to do the sensor recall. It's run fine without it so I'm not going to risk it.

I've got a sick family member and that takes most of my attention. I already know how I would react if this recall screwed something up.

Barely anything on the tailpipe as far as soot
 
I have a 22 and the map sensor in my opinion is the problem of the regens. It’s not reading stable and giving the wrong boost signal for injector timing. When the signal is smoothed out it runs better and no soot build up. 1000 miles of daily driving over 24 hrs in 2 weeks between regens.

There’s a lot of talk that this is the key. I’ve heard it from several knowledgeable ram techs. The problem is, Ram isn’t releasing any sort of directive to change them out (AFAIK).

It makes sense in my mind as well. It just needs to be confirmed by Ram and then a subsequent TSB or RRT released to initiate a repair process.

Do you have data that you’ve been tracking / documenting your truck?

Did you change something out and now have no issues?

Yes I run a Idash and a in line AG Diesel solutions part to smooth out my signal. If I don’t run it I have problems my truck will regen every 180-200 miles. But as long as it’s on it runs just fine.
Stock boost is sending 3-5lbs more than it should be.

There’s been a lot of talk regarding this. Supposedly there’s two suppliers for them. A German one and a Chinese one? The Chinese manufacturer is supposed to be “better”. Not sure what is better, but maybe it’s a more stable sensor? My 2022 HO has the German one.
I talked to a very good ram diesel tech last week and was told that anytime they work on a 2022 Cummins truck with a regen frequency issue, their standard practice is to replace the MAF, differential pressure sensor, and the exhaust pressure sensor before they go any further.

Just to be clear that is your MAF. I’m showing you my MAP sensor. But my MAF is German also.
Yeah sorry I guess I missed that initially. The techs I talked to all said they change the MAF out. Not the MAP. But the MAP would also make sense. I’m not sure which version of the MaP I have but I’ll check tomorrow.

I haven't checked. Will look when I pick it up, hopefully on Friday.

This is what I was told by my tech this afternoon. They went to order one and found there is 180 orders and only 150 MAFS on hand system-wide. My tech says his experience when there's an upside down parts availability issue is it's very likely that's what the problem is. We'll see when one shows up. TBC.....
