Has anyone had the experience of a regen not clearing the DPF? I have so little trust in my dealership that I'm wondering if they are not BS'ing me for the more lucrative repair of a filter replacement.

I got the dreaded "particulate filter full, see dealer" and the truck went into a reduced power mode. The dealer says they tried a manual regen but they couldn't unclog the filter. They said I would have to get the catalytic converter replaced. That's about it.

Ok well that’s warranty at least.

Yes it's under warranty. It's been 2 weeks and counting though waiting for the part.

They are calling a DPF/DOC a catalytic converter? They should at least know the names of the parts lol. If they cant be cleaned with a regen its happens when they get too plugged up but should never be full at 16k miles then they would have to be baked and chemically cleaned. Or replaced

They are saying the filter is inside the converter and can't be replaced separately.

There is not Catalitic converter there is a DOC and DPF both part of the same pipe they can be cut off/ cleaned and welded back together its a common practice but the dealer wont deal with the hassle as FCA is footing the bill for a replacement

Not sure who "they" are but they are wrong. Suggest you discuss with the Service Manager and/or Ram Cares for clarification of the failure and the fix.

Hey,

If you'd like some assistance in expediting your part, please send us a direct message. We'd be happy to get you connected to a case manager who can assist you with this.

Just got the same error message yesterday on my ‘22 3500 with approx 13,700 miles. Gauge shows 100% and my closest dealer is over 180 miles away. Safe to drive or should it be towed?? This emissions crap kills me!

It sounds like you have a faulty DPF like I supposedly have. From what I've gathered if you keep using the truck it will eventually go into limp mode ( 5 mph max ) I can't tell you how long that takes. You are indeed in for some serious frustration. I am on week 4 and still waiting for the new DPF to come in. Totally unacceptable. Ram should be taking care of it's existing customers first before before building new trucks. You could try buying this https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-mxp/ and the necessary app, and try to do a manual regen yourself. That's what the dealer is going to try. I was told it wouldn't work and I needed the new DPF. Good luck.

Its under warranty let the dealer send a tow truck

Has anyone actually checked their dpf to see if it’s face plugged? I’m thinking it’s probably a bad pressure sender vs a true plugged dpf. Unless of course you are burning a bunch of oil or coolant.

Thanks for the info. Sending it to the dealer via tow sometime today.
