Ram's Holding Some Late November to Early December (Possibly More) Orders Due to Quality Issue (threads merged)

Went to the dealership to check on the shipping status of my 2500 Limited Longhorn yesterday afternoon. Was told that it arrived at the rail yard 5 days ago, but is currently on hold. There is a recall that is supposedly coming out today on all 2500/3500 trucks. Until the recall is completed, they are holding my at the rail yard. Sales Manager did not know what the recall was. Has anyone heard of a recall coming out? I have looked in ram cares and it shows no recalls this morning so far

Following. I asked RamChat this question this morning and of course, they didn't have an answer.

I've been checking NHTSA.gov and the My Garage section of Mopar.com. Still early in the day yet.
I have had my vehicles on "Mopar's my garage" 4 jeeps prior to my PW and every time I checked it always said "good news no recalls" Yet sure as can be I would get a letter from the jeep informing of a recall and occasionally a call from the dealer saying there was a recall and never once did the "my garage" show it.

Again? Really? What's your S.L. date on your window sticker?

There is no date in the S.L. location on the sticker when I look it up on Ramcares.

I feel your pain... Last year, I ordered my 2020 3500 Limited DRW on 02/04, built on 3/10 and then it sat. First in Mexico, then at different rail yards across the country. Throughout the wait - no information was available to my dealer, RAM Cares or the RAM Call Center - only "lip service". A dozen broken shipping dates communicated to the dealer. Finally it arrived at the NY rail yard (100 miles away) in June with a 10-day shipping commitment. It sat for another 6 weeks with no explanation - until my dealer finally lost it and freaked out to his RAM rep who finally got off his butt and joined the "WTF??" fest. It arrived at my dealer 08/05 (25 weeks). Still never got an explanation. A few weeks later, the 2021s came out. Ugh...

Just took delivery of my 3500 6.7 SRW LongHorn this past Friday. No delays as it was shipped. While there could be concerns with specific model combinations, I'm not aware of anything the applies to all 2500/3500 trucks. Sorry to hear about your delay....but when it does arrive, you'll love the LongHorn!

Thanks, Unfortunately we are at the mercy of the manufacturer. We all hope that what the dealership tells us is correct.

Got word from my dealer that my truck is on the rail headed to KC (back from TX for repairs). This is assuming the computer system is accurate. He's hoping it will be in town this weekend but I'm not holding my breath.

All he could say about the issue is this.

All the factory would tell me was it had to do with a quality issue that affected several hundred trucks.

We will keep an eye on it and let you know how it proceeds.

I'm thinking it's more than "several hundred trucks" based on the reports in this forum and facebook groups.

Good luck to all of us.

After an exhaustive nationwide search for a stock truck my dealer suggested placing an order for one. I was reluctant as the wait was agonizing on a previous truck. Their FCA rep promised 6-7 weeks for delivery. The order was accepted by FCA on 8/10. Mfg date 9/20 (per the door sticker). Home on 12/01 after several missed dates as well. My dealership is a small local company under new ownership. The owner finally confessed he was over-extended on his credit with FCA and they would not ship him any vehicles until he sold down some of his inventory an freed up some credit. That included sold vehicles. if yours is a small local dealership this could be the case as well.

Supposedly its 2,000 trucks

Idk. My truck was near the dealer then sent back to TX like the others on here

For sure! Good luck! Camping season is coming up fast and I’m definitely ready to get mine!
Thank you. You too! I’m getting the camper whipped in shape. We have a big trip planed for June. I know that should be plenty of time but I dont like to push it and have a lot to get done on the truck.

So two members today have reported in the new order thread that their trucks are being held due supposedly to a new recall affecting all 2021 HD trucks and that all the new orders yet to be delivered need to be fixed before they can be delivered. I fear this could very well mean that our trucks are going to be recalled for a second time. We should see more information in the next new days.

Well I am going to second what you said about the recall. I called my sales manager this morning asking him to check with his contact at the factory and please find out why my truck has been at the body vendor for two weeks ! After waiting for a call back from fca all day he finally got it and called me directly afterwards. He said well I have bad news and good news , the good is the truck is all done the bad is there is a recall on all 2021 heavy duty pickups ! Then the worse news , they won't tell me what the recall is until Friday but at this time there is no parts available for the fix and no time estimate of when they will be available
So all the trucks on lots can now not be sold and all of our orders are going to be held untill the repair is done. I will update you all again on Friday if he gets back to me with the reason for the recall.
As quoted above, supposedly we should see the recall information coming out soon.

Us too! Tennessee in May, Michigan in June, Montana in July and Ohio in September. I would really like to have the new truck for those trips!

I’m hoping this isn’t entirely true or at least outdated. My truck has already been sent back from IL to TX once for some kind of quality check. It’s supposedly back in IL, headed to the dealership in IN. My salesman said they took delivery of a 2500 on 3/15 so hopefully at least SOME trucks are being delivered right now.
