I contacted RamChat today to get the status and towing capabilities for my ordered truck. I know that the truck has been built and is somewhere in transit.
When I asked about the status I got a reply that said “I will look that up. While you wait please give me your full address, zip code, phone number and email”. Instead of giving them my detailed personal information, I asked if they could give me the payload and towing capability for the truck. It is a 2500 so payload matters. She said it was 2450 pounds which I know is high for a highly optioned Laramie diesel. So I asked if that information was from the door sticker or a chart. She referred me to the general ram website capabilities chart which is over inflated marketing information from Ram corporate, and is not specific to my truck or the options I ordered. Based on my research for my truck her response of 2450 pounds my be as much as 500 pounds off. So her information was completely misleading, and unless I was smart enough to ask where she got the information, I would have believed that information was accurate. For a Ram 2500, 500 pounds of payload would make a huge difference. So don’t trust information you get from them regarding payload or towing capabilities.
Then she asked for my detailed personal information again, and after some back and forth it was clear she was not going to give me a status update on the truck unless I gave it to her. Rather than being up front with me and telling me that they only provide that information once you give them detailed personal information, they sneakily disguise how they try to get it by saying they will get you the information but while you wait please give me your full address including zip code, phone number, and email address. Needless to say I didn’t get a status update from RamChat.
RamChat is just a phishing site.
