I thought I would post all the findings I discovered within a week of owning my brand new shiny 2023 2500 Limited. There are significant changes Stellantis made to the 23 models, versus all past years. They are not huge, but I find them irritating, given the fact that we cannot override them as of yet.
1. Seatbelt chime override - Used to be able to follow a process to disable this. Not anymore.
2. Check Rear seat chime override - The manual says we can override this in the settings menu. Nope! No such setting available to turn it off.
3. External mirror - While these are fancy newfangled do dads, and does have improvements, Stellantis has seen fit to disable the ability to fold the mirrors in while in motion. You now have to be stopped or barely rolling in order to fold them in.
4. Speed limiter - We used to be able to use a tuner like EZLynk or AlphaOBD to override this restriction. Nope! Stellantis shut down that ability. Now we have to wait for someone to figure out the code to write that to the ECM/PCM.
5. Digital Dash Navigation view - While this does not Appy to earlier models, when you switch to seeing the Nav map on your dash, it does not allow any adjustments for distance. It's so zoomed in that you will miss your turn because you cannot see it coming if you have guidance engaged.
6. Steering wheel - We used to get a larger diameter wheel and wood accents over the top. Nope! We get a cheaper, smaller version for $15k more.
7. Hood aesthetics - You probably already know that the fancy looking intake upfront is totally faux, but the 2 top plastic vents you see on the sides are also totally faux. They are bolted on to the solid metal and made to look like they actually function to dissipate heat.
8. 4x4 decals - Past models would get a 4x4 decal on the rear fenders if you had the Offroad package. No more decals now.
9. Settings and privacy notice - Go to Settings>System>Privacy and note that the Open Source Policy is titled Open Course Policy. Does anyone even spell check the basic stuff?
Now, to be fair, I also discovered the following improvements.
1. The Digital Rearview mirror has adjustments available that we did not have in previous years. Of course the split pane setting cannot be used since Stellantis discontinued the trailer camera kit needed for this functionality.
2. The ambient light sensor that turns on the night mode has 2 settings. It will turn on the exterior lights as low light approaches but leaves the dash and control lights bright until it becomes darker. This is the one thing they did well.
If you are contemplating going to a 2023 model, you may want to know these things. If I could get my 21 year truck back, I would in a heartbeat.
