Price negotiated from MSRP

Hell yes. Thank you for posting this. I had placed an order with the local dealer. MSRP was about $80k and my sale price was $100 over invoice for $75,500 ish. Contacted Phil at Auburn and ordered a slightly more optioned truck with MSRP of $82,660. Sale price is $72,200. Saved me over $5k. Flight will be under $100 there and a couple hundred in fuel to take a nice drive home and visit friends and family on the way. This is awesome. Can’t wait.
It's so great when you learn that you have other options besides being stuck with your local dealer. It's helpful in the used car market as well. My wife and I flew one way from Michigan to SC to pick up our M3.

Just opens up so many more options for finding exactly what you want at usually a better price. Love reading stories like yours, hope you get a fast delivery!

Great deal! That's a sweet amount of bonus cash/incentives. I chuckle how this thread is a place where we feel the need to explain our doc fees. You got a fantastic deal, doc fees are just a part of the game! Most who would shame your doc fee got half of what you did off of MSRP lol

I definitely agree with you. Doc fees are one small piece of the game overall. I think people harp on them cause they are low hanging fruit but those same folks sometimes don't hold their ground or exercise patience where it matters most.
Every deal is different though so in the end if it meets the delta of your happiness & budget then just relax and enjoy. ;)

Well said! Everyone's finances are different, some may not really mind a few hundred tacked onto, in some cases, almost a 6 figure purchase. My dealer takes excellent care of me, I don't mind giving them a bone.

Doc fee on mine was only $150. It wasn't worth negotiating it out. Besides I got some extras thrown in after the final price was negotiated.

Always great to hear about the good deals. Don’t forget your trade in deal. That can make or break the total deal value.

Actually trade in’s leave a lot of money on the table. I was offered $20,000 for my 2014 F150 So I decided to sell it on Auto Trader. They estimated the value at $24,000 so I listed at $25,500. 4th phone call it was sold for $25,000.

$5,000 more than the dealer offer. That was easy money!

What’s the strategy? My 75A PW is arriving in a couple weeks. Sticker is $72k and the quote is for $67k.

On an ordered truck, so not one already on the lot, how do you then get them lower?

I think they know I can’t walk away since I have waited 3 months for the truck, so I feel stuck.

Thanks and congrats on the deal you got and/or made!

I can't speak to strategy...but I configured online so I knew the build and MSRP. Then I spent a few weeks emailing dealers with the build attached and the price I was looking to be at or close to which for me was ~12% off MSRP pre incentives. Then once I found my dealer I put my deposit down after we agreed on the order price. At that point it was just waiting and researching what incentives I could capture.
I was willing to travel to get the truck so that liberated my search. Also, I kept the conversations very simple... No trade, no invoice/FFP/ep talks... Just % off MSRP.
The dealer was great to be fair and that's a big part but IMHO most dealers are when they're motivated to move a unit. So focusing on volume dealers can be very helpful overall.

Final note, you aren't stuck... If this deal isn't making you smile (literally)... Then walk. Make them sell it to someone else (they won't want to) but you have to be prepared for that outcome.

Yeah, I should’ve put more time in before I ordered like you did. I am retiring and losing my work vehicle and will need the truck. I’m hoping there’s some new incentives in March.

I appreciate your help and quick response!

Not a problem, hopefully everything works out!

Got a 3500 Laramie night edition H.O and w/Aisin MSRP $74.5k got it for $62k but did have to fly to Kentucky from California luckily air fare was only $250 one way.
That’s a screaming deal. Especially for today. I am getting a 3500 HO Laramie night edition with msrp of $83k for $72k. Can’t argue with that deal on an ordered truck. Phil at Auburn Ram in Washington. He was amazing to work with. Can’t recommend him enough.

I posted this same question in the build forum, so sorry for the duplicate. I ordered back in early January, and my truck just shipped. When negotiating, I was basically told that the FWP price was about as low as they could negotiate on an order and I would get any current incentives when it arrived. I've seen a few post to make me believe that they could have absolutely come off of the price more than FWP. What are you guys seeing when ordering? My issue is that the dealer is a "friend" of mine I am a trusting guy. I would like to know what is normal when I go in to pick the truck up.

Normal to me is 12% minimum, but in todays world, your results may vary.

I can't really speak for anyone else... I got quotes from several dealers, and took that to my local dealer and they beat the price, not by much but they did. I wanted to stay local for various reasons. I didn't get the best deal but I'm happy with what I got. I will still get any incentives when it arrives. I ordered on 1/28, with MSRP of 62,200 they sold it to me for 55,400.

I’d say that was a decent deal. Just over 12% in today’s market with tight inventory.

Thanks. Do you remember what the "FWP" price on your order sheet showed?
