Price negotiated from MSRP

Have rates gone up?

That seems high, especially for a 60 month term.

I picked up my order in March and got 2.88% on 72 Mo. $45k through USB.
I am putting the truck in my company name. You can write the entire vehicle price off in year one or amortize and depreciate it if it's more beneficial. You can also write off the fuel, maintenance, repairs, etc. I will personally be the 3rd party guarantor but once downside is it's a "business auto loan" which always carry higher finance rates than personal. Just looking around the net, the rates they are quoting seem pretty in-line with anything else I could find.

Just made a deal on my first RAM truck. It is in transit and hopefully will be on the lot soon.

RAM 2500 Laramie Crew Cab 4X4 .
MSRP - $65,120 - Discounted $10,000

Have always owned Fords and GMC trucks. Looking forward to enjoying this truck, Main duty will be pulling our RV

Nice work. If that discount doesn't include factory rebates or incentives it is outstanding at 15.4%.

I just purchased mine... 2020 Ram 3500,

Equipment.JPG

MSRP was 80,900. I paid 74953.

Brand new right off the trailer.

Thanks,

'21 3500 Limited Mega 4x4 HO DelRed Night

MSRP: 89,355
HB: 2,630
FFP: 82,503
EP: 79,298
Price: 78,831
(before rebates/incentives upon delivery)

Order placed 11/28

Is the 78, 831 price. before taxes and other fees as well (I see you mentioned rebates but)?

Hey all. First post here, first new car, first heavy duty Ram... I've been watching HDRams and 5thGenRams for a while and really appreciate threads like these, so thank you all for sharing your experiences.
I went to my local Ram dealer today and priced out my dream truck. I like the deal but I'm not happy with my trade-in value; nor the fact that they won't commit to a price on the trade until delivery. I'd be willing to give them my Jeep now (it's been parked since March due to COVID) considering that by delivery the value will have dropped more.

Curious if any of you know a good dealer in New England that might be a little more generous on the trade or the purchase price? I'm in SE Massachusetts (02375), but willing to travel up to 200 miles for the right deal.
Details on the truck and price are below, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

2021 Ram 2500 Limited
Limited Level 1
Granite Crystal
Night Edition
6.7L Cummins
5th Wheel Prep
Cold Weather
Protection
Snow Chief

MSRP $82,000
FWP $76,134
Didn't see EP or FFP (anyone know how to calculate that?), but I figured HB to be $2,409.15
Dealer offered $76,634, after some back and forth I got them down to $73,900 (9.88% under MSRP).
Hoping some rebates will be available at delivery, but that's anyone's guess.

My trade is a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with 131,500 miles. Has the 5.7L hemi, advanced technology group, and all the bells and whistles, but due to mileage it'll just go to a used car auction for more dealers. Anyway, they said they'll offer me $10-11k for it... For that kind of money I'll sell it privately as it's only saving me $$650 in taxes.

Massachusetts is pretty standard and reasonable across the board for fees from what I've seen, unlike some other states I've shopped.
Here's how my OTD price would look without trade (assuming no rebates or incentives become available):
$ 73,900 Purchase price
$ 499 Documentation Fee
$ 135 Title
$ 35 State Inspection
$ 4,650 State Sales Tax (6.25%)
$ 79,219 Out the door (plus potentially an additional $250 off thanks to BonusDrive)

@PaulButkiewicz
One man's opinions, a dealer that won't commit to a price before delivery on the trade of a build order is a red flag for me.
499 doc fee is a bit much.

Since you seem comfortable with privately selling your jeep then it makes the conversation(s) easier... ie...
- Here is my build, I know the MSRP, give me your number that shows me you want to sell a unit.
- Incentives and rebates are yours though will often be a gamble with a build order vs timing.
- Again IMHO a $250 one way ticket if you can save 3-5k expanding your 200 mile range might start to make sense (plus a potential road trip vacation)
Good luck to you.

@Ostracize Appreciate the input. I feel the same way about their unwillingness to commit to the trade; wasn't sure if this was normal or not though.
I'll send me build sheet to a few more local dealers and ask for a price and see what I can get for a trade.
For those of you who have pitted dealers against each other: have you started the conversation with the current lowest price you have, or do you let them throw out the first number and then work them all down individually?
I hate playing games, so I think my tactic would be to let them know where I'm at currently and ask them if they can do better.

I also hate games, but... I also don't make it a habit to show my cards to anyone whose job it is to sell me anything.
If they know where I'm at then most (bad dealers) seem to want to shift the conversation to sewing doubt on the price I have... Not focusing on what matters to me.. Their offer.

Edit: But I'll concede that it's possible a good dealer will handle that info differently. But I don't like being the first to share.

I always goto 3 different dealer. I'm an ep so only thing I have to deal is trade in.. right now trade in price is high. Especially on used trucks..your price off msrp. Seems good as long as that's before any rebates..there's a $1500 coupon on the ram website..

@Basser53 Thanks. I grabbed the coupon but don't see it likely the truck would get delivered before that expires. If we get close I may try to call FCA and see if they'll offer me a new code

Finally pulled the trigger today. Thanks for all the help here guys. The truck is a 2020 Laramie 6.4 Night Edition. The HD market has been on fire down here in Dallas due to all the new construction going on.

MSRP: $63,310
Selling Price: $55,433
RAM Rebates: $1500

Dealer had $1296 in tint, wheel lock, theft device in dealer adds on original offer sheet, they removed all those.

Tax: $3388.81
Doc Fee: $150
Inspection and State Fees: $50
Tags and Reg: $112
Texas Road and Bridge Tax: $20

Out the door was $57,653.81.

By my math (which isn't good), that is just under 12.5% under MSRP plus factory rebates. I am pretty happy with that. It was as super easy deal done 100% via email except for the financing portion.

Side note, they also gave me a check for $22,000 for my 2014 Ram 1500 with 92.5k miles. It did have a 6" lift and 3/4 tread 35" Toyo's on it.

Love the new truck and looking forward to installing a level/lift and bigger tires pretty quick.

They didn't list the $22k as a trade in? That would reduce your taxable value and save you $1375 ($22k x 6.25%) in sales tax.

Sorry, forgot to mention that. Old truck was in my personal name, new one is in my company name to take advantage of the 179 deduction. I can write the entire truck cost off this year if needed or amortize and depreciate if that's more beneficial. Ran all the numbers with my CPA and it made more sense to do it this way and stick the $22k in an interest bearing spot.

Ah, that makes perfect "cents".

I bought a RAM 3500 last year, and sadly I made so many mistakes when I took it.
1. no winter package : heated steering wheel and seats
2. no Trunk camera
3. no keyless entry
4. no auto temperature control
5. no back slide window

It's a 2019 Lonestar Mega Cab 3500 6.7 HO
Wondering it's time wo trade and order from factory. It's come with 0 APR last year!
