Hey all. First post here, first new car, first heavy duty Ram... I've been watching HDRams and 5thGenRams for a while and really appreciate threads like these, so thank you all for sharing your experiences.
I went to my local Ram dealer today and priced out my dream truck. I like the deal but I'm not happy with my trade-in value; nor the fact that they won't commit to a price on the trade until delivery. I'd be willing to give them my Jeep now (it's been parked since March due to COVID) considering that by delivery the value will have dropped more.
Curious if any of you know a good dealer in New England that might be a little more generous on the trade or the purchase price? I'm in SE Massachusetts (02375), but willing to travel up to 200 miles for the right deal.
Details on the truck and price are below, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
2021 Ram 2500 Limited
Limited Level 1
Granite Crystal
Night Edition
6.7L Cummins
5th Wheel Prep
Cold Weather
Protection
Snow Chief |
MSRP $82,000
FWP $76,134
Didn't see EP or FFP (anyone know how to calculate that?), but I figured HB to be $2,409.15
Dealer offered $76,634, after some back and forth I got them down to
$73,900 (9.88% under MSRP).
Hoping some rebates will be available at delivery, but that's anyone's guess.
My trade is a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with 131,500 miles. Has the 5.7L hemi, advanced technology group, and all the bells and whistles, but due to mileage it'll just go to a used car auction for more dealers. Anyway, they said they'll offer me
$10-11k for it... For that kind of money I'll sell it privately as it's only saving me $$650 in taxes.
Massachusetts is pretty standard and reasonable across the board for fees from what I've seen, unlike some other states I've shopped.
Here's how my OTD price would look without trade (assuming no rebates or incentives become available):
$ 73,900 Purchase price
$ 499 Documentation Fee
$ 135 Title
$ 35 State Inspection
$ 4,650 State Sales Tax (6.25%)
$ 79,219 Out the door (plus potentially an additional $250 off thanks to BonusDrive)
