Price negotiated from MSRP

Now that my deal is done, I can discuss the outcomes. Note this is for an ordered, 2020 Power Wagon. Pics below for fun.
  • MSRP: $66,330
  • Sale Price: $59,726.38 (approximately 10% below MSRP; the reason for the odd number is I negotiated an out the door price, not Sales Price). Had I gone with Dennis Dillon I could've saved another $500 to $700. The reason I didn't is they were super slow to respond and ~$500 was my breakeven for the trip to Boise.
  • Trade in: 2016 Tacoma (well optioned, 6MT, 43k miles) - $23,500
  • Tax/title/tag/doc fee ended up being right around $700 (Oregon doesn't have a sales tax thankfully but we do have a nonsense "privilege tax")
  • Put down $8k
I financed through my credit union at 1.99% for 72 months with the intent to pay it off somewhere between month 55 and 60.

I am currently negotiating. While reading the board my sm just emailed me and said have you recieved the email? I answered yes but the numbers are not what I was hoping for. He emails me right back saying, "I can do 79.5K .... What is your offer?" I answered 77K ..... A little more than 11%, Let's see if I hear back :)

They can definitely do better than that for yah

Given the gap between msrp and dealer invoice, less than 14% off - any rebates, is not a deal I am willing to make at this point. Trucks are a cash cow for dealers and manufacturers.

If you're getting 0% for 84 that's not bad.

rule of thumb is dealer invoice less full holdback as a worst case. Add some incentives like USAA $1K, penfed, Sam's club, etc. to save more that doesn't cost the dealer.

With poor sales right now, hold out for a better deal.

Thanks for the pointers everyone. SM got back to me last night. After some more back n forth we are at 77K. He will install 4 OEM splash guards and I will get the USAA for 1K. So, 76K right now. We will see what today brings :)

the way I read the 0%-84, you lose approximately 7k in rebates if taking that choice, not worth it......probably better to deal with your own finance company. Especially if intention is to pay off early.

I finally found out on my deal that buy taking the 3.9 for 60 I got 4000 in rebates, n I'm going to pay it off in 4 months anyway, so it didn't really make sense for me to bicker back an forth on int rates as ill only pay a few hundred anyway to save 4k.

Sounds to me like you are where you wanted to be - why hesitate.

Apparently, the dealer I contacted doesn't want to sell me a truck. Oh well, I can wait. It would have been the same as my current one trim wise, but oh so more capable. Woulda, shoulda, coulda.

Feeling pretty good about the deal I got. 2019 Laramie 4x4, Tow pkg, off-road pkg, bedliner pkg, 12" Uconnect, had two choices.
1). $10k off sticker with 3.9% for 72 months or
2). $8k off sticker with 0% for 84 months. And no payment for 90 days.
I went with option two.
