Has anyone thought about/looked into the ability to put the passenger screen from the new 1500s into the 4.5Gen 2500s?

Yes. It will fit, but that’s all I know for now until I can get my hands on one. Most likely need a 2023+ UC5 radio module. I already tried a wagoneer passenger screen in a 2500, and wouldn’t fire up, but that could have been because the Ethernet ports are inactive on the 2022 radio module I tried it on.

If the ports are there, do you think it would be as simple as a flash/software update the '23 to enable them?

Is that passenger screen separate from the main screen (autonomous operation)? What is it for? Can the passenger link to it to watch videos?

From what I can tell, it is interactive with the main screen (map etc, but also seems to have an HDMI input(maybe even screen share) for the passenger to be able to use as a screen for movies etc. it is where the upper glove box is. It is currently in the 1500s

If it allowed you to screen cast movies, my wife would love it!

I have a new passenger screen if anyone wants to test if it will work on 1500 and 2500.

I’ve had one for a while now, but it’ll be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to make it work in a pre-2025. It uses a separate button to turn it on, which is on a linbus message that pre-25’s don’t know. Then once we figure out how to turn it on, there are settings that need to be in the radio to give the passenger permissions to use the screen. Those radio settings only exist on the Atlantis high architecture.
It’s basically the equivalent of trying to get a BMW instrument cluster to work in a Ram truck.

So it is impossible to make it work in previous years

Just like the 14" screen will not work either, in previous years due to the new can fd system, nothing from 2025 will work.

I think the 1500 and 2500 2025 will use the same passenger screen

Thanks for all of the info @theganme! I am curious if the passenger screen would be "plug and play" in a 2025 HD that did not come with one? I'm in the market for a new truck however narrowing my search for this feature is limiting. I've found several Laramie 2500's that have what I want but not this... From what I found I can purchase the display from moparonlineparts.com (sku 68532988AB) for $613.59. I'd prefer to go this route if the installation is reasonable and the module functions as intended.

If you are looking for the screen, I have it and I can also get you the bezels that surround it.

Thanks for the offer. I'm probably a few weeks away from pulling the trigger on the truck yet. Do you know, or do you have some level of confidence that this would plug right in and work?

I really have no idea and those who are working on installing it are those from 19-24

It won’t be plug n play. It’ll need a custom harness added. The bcm will need to be configured for it, and proxi alignment performed. There’s currently no way to do that.
