What are your experiences with trailer tires? I have 225/75-15 on my enclosed hauler and have a mix of OEM tires and replacement tires, most recently Carlisle. These are load range E, speed rated L and my driving is 75 at the top end (within the limits of the interstate). Through hot states like AZ, NM, and TX I can watch tire temperature increase to 110+ degrees but I have noticed that different brands have different temperatures at various times. I would not rule out that my TPMS system is not accurate either. PSI at max inflation of 65 will trend up to 74 with increase in temperature, as expected. I have had sidewall bulges but, like everyone else, nails are my primary problem. The bulges are more serious because I can’t roadside repair them and then I’m down a spare. I don’t want to carry multiple spares.

What are your experiences with different brands of tires? I am not concerned with longevity because I’m more likely to replace a tire from damage (bulges, sidewall punctures) than from wearing out. The Goodyear Endurance is a top rated tire but at $145 each also is top priced. Hankook is a good tire but their trailer tire series seems pretty new. Carlisle has been good so far but then I get into the Chinese brands and it’s a mixed bag.

Goodyear endurance, Sailun, Maxxi are good tires…I personally would go with LT tires.

Why not the good'ol Marathon? Probably way cheaper than Endurance. Are they still available or it's just Endurance now?

We have had good luck with Hercules trailer tires, but are now running GY Endurance.
the last set I bought for my V nose sled trailer were Good Ride tires. They seemed good, but did not get a lot of miles on them before selling the trailer.
Im told they are the factory tires on many PJ trailers (as i bought them from a PJ dealer.

Never-ever consider a china-bomb! You'll regret it if they still sell them!

As far as what I am running on our FW, it's GY Endurance. All four came with the 2021 FW, so the jury is still out when it comes to replacement decisions.
This I can tell you, I run a TST monitoring system to keep tabs on the FW tires. Whether it's accurate or not, I can't say. Oddly enough, my digital tire gauge and the TST monitoring system don't match (surprise!). The TST shows it's off by 4# under. I had our FW traveling along I-40 in AZ and the numbers came up on this monitor in the neighborhood of 124 degrees at 88# + or - each tire. Yeah, no kidding. Needless to say, there was some concern on my part, but it continue to continue with no problems. So I developed the attitude that the TST is good for one thing and one thing only - When it shows any tire, much lower in pressure, it's time to pull over. That's it! I am under the impression that valve stem caps (senders) are not all that accurate.

BTW - I run 80# (as stamped) on each tire on the FW. Underinflating is a huge no-no and is asking for a sidewall blow-out.

I've had good experience w Goodyear Endurance on 2 different TT, probably 20k miles total.

Last trailer I ran the Goodyear Endurance tires for about 15K miles.

Running GY Endurance here also, replaced the CastleRock China Bombs as soon as I could. Should be illegal to sell a trailer with those tires.

GY Endurance. Rated to 87MPH and made in the US. Have a set on my RV for 3 years now and zero issues. Extremely popular tire now and run by thousands of folks.

They're available in D and E rating. The largest 16" size actually carries the same weight as a G rated tire. If you need G or higher, Sailuns or Hercules or big bucks G614's.

As mentioned, GY Marathon are chinabombs. had a set and they sucked.

I am not sure on using LT tires on a trailer. Maybe a light weight or light use trailer. But a heavier trailer needs trailer tires ( specific for a non powered axle). Along with a high weight rating, trailer tires have stiffer side walls designed to take the side scrubbing of turning with 8 tires on two axles.

Exactly what I just did. The guy at the tire shop asked if I wanted them to sell as they still looked new. I told him to render them useless as in puncture the sidewalls and that I wouldn't be the one to sell them to someone knowing their reputation.

I have always run LT tires. My choice is Michelin XPS Ribs. They are a commercial tire rated for trailer and truck use. Pretty well bullet proof but you do pay for the quality.

Lt is less prone to cracking than st tires thats why i run them you get more years on them

How long does everyone run their tires before replacing? I'm at 4 years, tires look good, but have a 1500 mile move coming up in October. I put new Carlisle's on 4 years ago and they have been awesome, 81 MPH rated. This is on a 4k boat trailer, single axle.

I run a gooseneck with 16 inch tires, you want a good tire that will last you go 14 pl rated tires. I have easily put on 100k miles on the trailer, going 14 pl rated was my second best decision after converting to disc brakes. 10 ply tires I would get 4k miles till I needed replacement, 14ply I would get 20k miles till they wore out. the tire guys wanted 20% more per tire, but I got 4x the life, seemed like a good deal to me.

10 years for me typically ill sell em after as i buy LT tires so someone will buy em cheap for an old truck
