What are your experiences with trailer tires? I have 225/75-15 on my enclosed hauler and have a mix of OEM tires and replacement tires, most recently Carlisle. These are load range E, speed rated L and my driving is 75 at the top end (within the limits of the interstate). Through hot states like AZ, NM, and TX I can watch tire temperature increase to 110+ degrees but I have noticed that different brands have different temperatures at various times. I would not rule out that my TPMS system is not accurate either. PSI at max inflation of 65 will trend up to 74 with increase in temperature, as expected. I have had sidewall bulges but, like everyone else, nails are my primary problem. The bulges are more serious because I can’t roadside repair them and then I’m down a spare. I don’t want to carry multiple spares.
What are your experiences with different brands of tires? I am not concerned with longevity because I’m more likely to replace a tire from damage (bulges, sidewall punctures) than from wearing out. The Goodyear Endurance is a top rated tire but at $145 each also is top priced. Hankook is a good tire but their trailer tire series seems pretty new. Carlisle has been good so far but then I get into the Chinese brands and it’s a mixed bag.
