OEM Battery Life?

Hi, I just checked Napa's site, they are listed at $366.99 each ? Any advise.
That was a Labor Day sale that has passed. They were listed at ~$320 each and the 20% sale dropped them to ~$250. I decided to roll the dice and keep the OEM batteries for a bit longer.

Thanks for all the replies. Based on your responses, I decided to roll with the OEM batteries for a bit longer. Hopefuly I didnt jinx myself and they crap out tomorrow. It's nice to know there are other decent AGM options available at Costco or Walmart.

Wouldn’t waste my coin on anything else besides the Walmart or Costco/Sams club options.

Odyssey batteries don’t last any longer in my experience, and voltage is voltage no matter the brand.

22 3500 Laramie, daily driver from may through october. No notice of any issues, went to start one morning and clunk was all I got. Jumped fine with my NOCO. Went on errand, started fine. Next morning trip was same, clunk jump restart OK. Isolated the batteries and passenger side was 11.5 volts, driver side 13.0. Hit passenger side with a charger for 6 hours and rehooked it up. Next few days started after sitting fine and trip successful. Took it to shop for test and passenger side apparently had one cell that was tired. Batteries were 3 years 9 months old. :(
Only real shop here is Les Schwab. Had them install their best batteries (Lead/acid) for $544 plus tax (6%). Warranty is 24 months free replacement with 84 month warranty. So prorated after 2 years. Always used Costco or WM previously but that is a 200 mile round trip and I didn't have time for that.

2021 3500 delivered in April that year. I live in Washington state and normally replace batteries every 4-5 years if they have not failed. This is to avoid them failing at a bad time. I would rather replace when its convenient and I can pick what I want. No issues with my OEM batteries, but I just replaced mine with Walmart Everstart Platinum AGMs yesterday.

Bought the 2019 PW in 2020 with 12k? on it, already had a Costco battery in it. That failed quick, less than a year later. Yellow Optima has been 100% since.
Top quality AGM is the way, afaic. Optima, Odyssey, Full Throttle etc…
Red Optima in the work Titan after many failures of cheapie AGM and warranty swaps, finally said $$$. Been ~ six years for that Redtop, last Yellowtop went around 20 and still good when truck was traded.

Speak of the devil. Just replaced the batteries. Had great luck with Interstate in past but switched it up with Continental AGMs.

Issue arised with a morning one tick no crank and CEL. Passenger battery finally called it a day.
I just installed agm batteries on my 2022 6.7 which puts them at two months shy of four years after purchase. Now my truck is not charging the batteries. Did you have any issues when you went to agm batteries?

20 years on a battery?

I have never heard of any brand of battery lasting 20 years. My last red top did 5 years.

Yep, was in a Bronco as long as I owned it and then a Raptor for ~ eleven years. Was still in that when it was traded for this Powerwagon. Actually, I bought that Bronco in 1999 and the Raptor was traded in 2022, I think. Maybe 2021… probably have to look at pics to see. 2021, so ten years in that Raptor.
My Pop put a Red Top in his 2007 GMC shortly after buying it new and it’s still going.

My OEM batteries in my 2006 lasted from install date of Nov 2005 to Oct 2019 when I pulled them before a long trip, they were still working okay but did not want to chance it, who knows how much long they may have lasted and they spent all but 1 year of there life in the upper mid west cold winter temps....

I have not had any problems at all and knock on wood.

What size did you go with? Mine are L4/H7/94R.

Did you disconnect the batteries and load test them separately to verify its a battery problem?

My OEMs were replaced with Costco AGMs at 3 years. They didn't fail but my installed battery monitor (bluetooth) showed that the voltage was dropping too fast when the truck sat for several days. Based on issues that folks on here were experiencing I replaced them to avoid being stranded.
I have a 2022 RAM Bighorn. Factory Battery lasted about 1.5 years. Replaced under warranty with a 3 year OEM battery and that battery lasted about 2 years. I'm currently on my third battery at year 4. I never really paid attention to any voltage drops on my gauge in the past, but on this third battery (AGM purchased at Walmart) I notice my gauge drops halfway between the middle and the Low end of my gauge over night. Trying to figure out if this is a battery problem or an electrical problem with my truck. I turn off everything possible, lights, radio, HVAC, heated seats, steering wheel, etc, but it seem the battery gauge shows a drain every morning. The truck still starts each morning and the gauge immediately returns to the normal position showing the correct voltage. Is this normal or do I have gremlins draining my battery overnight? I have 32k miles on the truck but have past the 36 month warranty period so RAM won't warranty the issue.

RAM put a second set of batteries in my '22 with 26k. They have no idea why the truck keeps going dead.
Seems like I'm having the same problem. Dealer didn't run any test on the battery or electrical system just installed another 3 year OEM battery under warranty. Now at 33K miles my second battery has died (Less than 2 years old). RAM won't warranty another battery because I'm past the 36 month warranty. Have you figured out why your truck is eating batteries?

The OEM batteries are absolutely horrible, I’m sure that’s part of the problem.

I agree the OEM Batteries are horrible!! I replaced my third battery with a AGM battery from Walmart hoping to remove the OEM battery from the scenario. But still it seems the battery drains overnight. The battery shows charging while driving, but if it sets overnight the battery gauge looks like this in the morning. Is this normal? Or is something draining my battery overnight? Did I get another bad battery off the shelf?Battery.jpg

Still on my oem 2019s they do sit on a tender when truck sits.

I’d have a hard time basing anything off the arbitrary “no values given gauge”. Always hated those on the fords too.

What is your actual voltage.
