OEM 5th Wheel Puck Installation

I installed both the B&W turnover ball and the OEM puck system in my 2019 Ram 3500. I have the Ramboxs so it wasn't a option for the truck. It took about 2 hours start to finish. You have remove your spear tire and tire heat shield. You also have loosen your truck bed bolts jack/lift it up to put the puck between the bed and frame. As for cutting the holes, the one for the ball was simple. The for the puck system were not that bad. Even if you are off some the hole covers hide that
I noticed that too with the Ram box you can not order the factory puck system, but you were able to install it with no issues? I was wondering why its not available with the Ram box. Do you like your set up(Ram box)? Iwas considering it but I wanted the factory puck system. It sure looks like the Ram box would be handy for camping.

My trade was a 16 2500 w/ ram boxes and I loved them. We full time in our RV, and those things were a life saver, they hold a ton

Well we finished the install as well, again mine is a 2019 2500. Overall it took us probably just over an hour, if we had to do another one we could probably do it under an hour. Didn't have to do anything with the box as far as loosening it, just had to take the spare tire down and four screws out of the heat shield to get it to move some. Overall pretty easy.
Thanks for every ones comments earlier.

Nice!! Could you give me any leads on where to purchase the puck system. I have 2019 ram 2500 bighorn and having a lot of trouble find any puck systems in stock. I did find a 2020 puck system but website said it wouldn’t fit the 2019. I’m kind of surprised about that but would love to know what you bought and where.
Thank you

I ordered it off moparpartsonline.com, paid $225. It's hard to believe the 2020 wouldn't fit the 2019, no changes were made that I'm aware of.

I’m unfortunately the “2019” puck system is back ordered with no shipment dates at this time. I think I might buy the readily available 2020 puck system. I agree and I’m unaware of any changes it’s still a 5th gen and I don’t think they would change frame layout in 1 year.
Thanks for the help I’m going to likely have a local shop or dealer do the install.

I was wondering if anyone has installed the OEM Puck System in there truck themselves? Mine did not come with it but just ordered it and will be installing and was wondering if anyone had any tips on it?
Thanks
Yes i just did it. It was miserable. Had to lift bed at each side to be able to slide the pucks between the bed and the frame (i have 3500, some say 2500 you Don’t have to). If you don’t have to lift bed then would be much easiser but for 3500 you do! Also by far the driver front puck the worst…fuel tank in way…driver side rear the easiest. I did in my garage on crawler (no lift)…really sucked.

I installed it on a 2018 2500 6.4 bed for a friend a few years ago
Took me about two hours, I did not have to loosen the bolts nor remove the bed. Also did it on the floor without a ilft.
I just installed the 5th pucks, not the center gooseneck mount.
If you want to also install the gooseneck mount, I think you will have to remove the bed.

The hardest part was cutting the holes perfectly on center, didn't want to make a mistake there.
Found this thread on another forum that shows an easy way to find the exact center before cutting the four holes:
