Noise, mega cab body looks shifted, and tsbs??

Dealer can't do anything for me its just what it is. Im so tired with Ram its my 4 truck in less
than 2 years always its something.

So anyone that has the mounts replaced, nothings really changed? Mine has the same noise, dealer heard it, replaced the shocks, then it was cold so it doesn't rattle as much so they told me, its's all good. Don't know if I should keep on them right now, if there's no fix.

Would mounts from a 4th gen work? OEM or aftermarket?

Have some sound to my clicking from back seat.

Audio isnt the best and it sounds different in person but you get the idea..

I hear this in my truck frequently as well. It sounds as if I'm going over cracks/bumps in the road, but im not, its smooth.

Ratchet straps, bottle jacks and 2x4s even... good gawd! Are ya reading this @RamCares?
I’ve seen what these “mechanics” do these days. No one takes pride in their work, they cut corners, steal, break stuff and try to hide it, lose bolts and replace them with whatever they can find, or don’t replace them at all. I don’t need my truck tainted even more than what the factory already screwed up.

My dealer attempted to adjust the box to align it better, ended up with maybe a 1/16. . Basically told me that’s as good as it’s going to get. So if I can loosen 8 bolts and move the cab to make it better, and get rid of my clunking noise, I’m game.

Correct if wrong but I will also be loosening All the cab mounts 8 I think in a mega cab and straighten the cab to the bed. I hope this will fix the noise but am very doubtful. Also torque them down to about 80ftibs. When I do I will update but that will not be soon.....

Anyone that has done this please update here maybe with pics how u moved the cab over and if all bolts need to be loose and if it fixed noise.

So today I loosened all 8 cab mounts, measured on both sides of the cab to frame was 1/2” off. Used the bottle jack that came with the truck to move it over until measurements were equal +\- 1/16”.
Noise is still there for me.

Did u happen to compate all the bolts lengths??Did any of the bolts seem too long?? Did you torque the bolts down? I might tackle this myself today.... Where did you place the bottle Jack on frame and body to move cab over?? I don't wanna dent/mess cab up.

Is urs a megacab??

The noise I was getting was a clunk in the front end that I could feel in the floor going over bumps. And coming from a 98 chev with a 6.5 any rattles or squeaks that I hear don't really bother me

Yesterday I removed all 10 bolts (mega cab) I shifted my cab over about 1/2" with bottle Jack it was pretty easy to do. it looks even now....

I measured the bolts and the front and rear cab bolts are the same 5-7/8" the 3 in the middle where all the same length at 4-1/4". The 4.25" bolts will not fit in the front or rear they are too short. I also noticed the rear cab mount (where my noise is coming from still) is a different cab mount then the others.

Hope this helps someone out. Now let's get the noise figured out.

So when I picked up my truck from Ram I got a chance to talk to tech and he showed me the I guess what is a star case? and a thread or forum the techs are a part of and he confirmed it is a know issue pinpointed to the pass side rear cab mounts.

This is what they wrote:

"The rattle is coming from rear cab mounts. due to design oversight the center spacer tube rattles up and down against the top mounting plate portion of the mount and until a redesign of the mount is available this noise will not be able to be fixed."

"tried removing the lower black washer with the dimples and placing it on top with the dimples down to seperate the center spacer from the cab. Then we reinstalled the bolt with 2 washers between the center spacer and the large washer on the bolt. We were trying to clamp the center spacer between the silver top cap and the bolt. Still didn't change the concern. With the mount being fluid filled I can't remove the the center spacer to cut it down. Agreed that a redesigned mount is needed."

"wondering if this was the same issue for the star case that disappeared for a rattle at the A lar and they wanted you to replace front cab mounts.I am getting no where with star on concern they think the wrong mount was installed in location of rear of cab, knowing they are physically different mounts from the other mounts on cab."

"finally after 3rd revision of rear cab mounts the noise is no longer present"

Not sure what 3rd revision is but would love to find out. Hopefully my tech/dealer will find out and let me know if and when a redesign or fix is present.

Has anyone heard from @RamCares yet ? Has Ram got a fix for this yet as long as this problem has been going on, they should have something better than just swapping parts around.
