New 2024 leaking fluids

I just found this thread, because I am also dealing with something leaking on my 2024 RAM 2500. My RAM 2500 is 4 months old. I have 8 or so dark “oil-like” spots under my truck on my driveway. I’m trying to figure out where it is leaking. I’m planning to call the dealer tomorrow. This is not what I expected from a fairly new truck.
Yeah I just found a leak on my TCase and came looking for info as well. SMH 2024 ram 2500 with less then 4k miles.

You can see the drips, and the spray all on the bottom side of the cab. Looks like I’ll be calling the dealer for an appointment tomorrow.

Where are these oil spots located in reference to the truck? What part of the truck is above them? All in the same spot or different spots? Any sign of a something wet underneath?

I'm sorry, I should have posted a picture with my last post. Here is a picture of the spots on my driveway, and they appear to be leaking under the front driver and passenger seat area. I have not had a chance to look underneath, so, unfortunately this is the best I've got right now.

Just a heads-up, my dealer is replacing the transfer case output seal under warranty. This is the cause of the leaks on the driveway. This is my first RAM I've ever owned. It is roughly 4 months old, and it is spending 2 weeks at the dealer (1 week to get it in for a tech, another week to get parts). I hope this does not foretell what to expect from a RAM.

I had my output shaft replaced the same day it was taken in. Taking 2 weeks is a dealer issue. Pretty basic repair so I wouldn’t be concerned.

Good to know...I haven't been impressed with this dealer with regards to service. I had issues with them regarding my Jeep Wrangler, too. I'll never take my Wrangler back there again. This is my first "repair experience" with the RAM.

Yeah, unfortunately it has happened to quite a few people. It happens. Wouldn’t worry about your truck. They all have their issues.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Took mine to the dealer last Monday 8/12/2024 was told two days till it could be looked at. Tech ended up having a loss in the family and wasn't able to get to my truck till this Monday 8/19/2024. Of course its the seal like yours which is what I told them, but part wasn't ordered till tech looked at it. Should be here today or tomorrow. It sucks but its under warranty and I have had a loaner. I like the service center at this dealer. I have used them in the past on my other trucks and they have always been the fastest to get to my stuff compared to all dealers around me. Just unforeseen events this time.

I'm curious if they will end up cleaning all the oil spray on the underside of my cab and all.

It's nice you received a loaner. We were not offered one. I suppose I could have asked, but it should be done, hopefully by Monday.

Good question regarding the oil spray. I'll have to look under there after the work is done and find out. More than anything, I want it to be fixed for good. Hopefully, this replacement seal is "better" than the factory one.

Originally I was told they didn't have one and the service advisor told me to reach out to FCA to put a claim in and let them know I would need a rental. The FCA representative was helpful and confirmed that they would/could provide a rental, I would just need to schedule the service, let the service advisor know my FCA claim number so they could call FCA and have a rental ready for when my drop off appointment was. It would have been a little bit of a hassle just because FCA needed like two days to work it all out on their end based on the FCA representatives comments. Lucky for me, the dealer called back and found a loaner so I didn't have to go that route. But ill know for the next warranty item (Hopefully none).

I got the call today that mine is done so we shall see if its cleaned up. To me something like that would be more of the pride/craftsmanship a tech takes in his work. If the truck isn't clean to begin with then maybe I wouldn't think twice about it as a tech. But on a truck like mine where as of right now you could eat off the bottom of it, if I was the tech working on it id definitely would have cleaned it all up. To each there own I guess.

Definitely T-case output seal.

The fluid on the engine adapter plate and inspection cover of the Transmission may be the CATS rust preventative that they spray on to the block for shipping and storage protection. I would recommend wiping it off with a degreaser or solvent and then see if it returns. View attachment 71561
Man I sure hope so. Mine is on a lift getting the 10k mile oil change and that is what I've got...
It's very thick & tacky like fifth wheel grease, with no odor.

Hit it with a black light and see if it illuminates.
Clean it off really well with a good degreaser and see if it returns. The amount of it you’re seeing is more than what I’m typically used to seeing, but it could’ve just been an unusually heavy application of it. See what happens.

Also, take a really close look at the back of the engine block where the adapter plate bolts to the block. Follow the union upward on both sides of the block and see if there’s signs of oil leaking down. There were some trucks that had flawed gaskets on the valve cover and rocker box, and both would allow oil to weep down the back of the engine. It wouldn’t be easily visible but definitely happened. Mine was one of them.

I showed this to the tech, he's looking for a black light

Just the other day while have the oil changed, I noticed the tacky lube under the rear main. Thanks to mbarber84 for posting the tech sheet of what it was.

Today I was double checking there work before my trip. And noticed the red fluid drop on the shaft, And the wet cross member. Guess Ill have to see the dealer as well when I get to work.

Has anyone got a part number for this "rear output shaft seal"?
This dealer here in Oklahoma says the part is on back order with no date of availability.
Crap, I have a service appointment for mine tomorrow morning.
