Lifter Failure? Report it here!

So if I've had the grid heater nut failure, does that mean the Diesel gods will protect me from the lifter failure?
 
IMO,
My 2024 is much quieter at cold start and running temp with 10w-30 than 5w-40.
I've tried 5w-40 twice in a year(winter) and the start up noise is significantly less on 10w-30.
We only get down to 0.
My 6.7 seems to like 10w30 best.
Using Rotella and Valvoline, both weights.
JMO
 
FWIW, I ran all this lifter failure kerfuffle through ChatGPT, and after some back and forth and figuring of data and crunching of numbers, she concluded that approx 1-2% of all Cummins 6.7's from 2019 thru 2024 will suffer a lifter failure at some point in the engines life. If that 1 to 2% is accurate, I can live with those odds. (even though Im just the poor schlub who will have that one truck in 100.... if I didn't have bad luck Id have no luck at all.)
 
The Motorcraft 10W30 oil for Powerstroke engines is dirt cheap off the shelf at Walmart and carries the appropriate Cummins certification. I will likely use that oil once I get to 100k miles. Until 100k miles I'm going to let a dealer do the engine oil so I can have a paper trail they are happy with and encourage them to take care of me if I need a warranty repair later.
 
Two years ago, I bought my first RAM/Cummins - a 2021 with 23K. I did a bunch of research before my purchase then made appropriate mods for peace of mind. When i joined the forum, I began reading about all the other possible issues that were different from my earlier research. Then started asking a bunch of question out of curiosity and anxiety. Several members told me to enjoy the truck and drive without 'worrying' about failures as most people who join forums are there because of problems. I took their advice and am happy with my RAM, it is an amazing and beautiful truck.
If I have any problems, I will deal with them, if any.

Thats a good attitude that most of us should share. But what are these "appropriate mods" you mentioned?

Banks cold air intake, monster ram, boost tubes, 5" exhaust, BD Diesel 68RFE pressure boost, trans pan and thermal bypass. I did these mods prior to joining here.
 
Has anyone heard of an OEM 6.7 engine oil additive, recommended by Ram?
At my dealer today, scheduling fuel filter service x 2; my rep and I talked about the Lifter TSB Ram issued. He looked it up and suggested Ram prescribed an engine oil additive, but he couldn't find what additive, then suggested it was not issued in North America.
Has anybody heard this or is the Rep too far over his skis?

Yes I saw a blip about the additive year or so ago, if I recall correctly the additive is from germany/EU, I also don't think the info was for the US dealers
