Lifter Failure? Report it here!

So you’re asking ram to lock in a fix for a problem you didn’t even have?

Gotcha.
So unusual noises that don't sound right which cannot be explained and are told are normal by a dealership is something we should be okay with? C'mon.

Where there isn’t evidence of damage occurring with said noises? Yeah, absolutely.

Sometimes a noise is just that, especially on these CGI block engines.

Mainly 2 types of folks..
Person A: hears a noise, must locate the source to be confident of no issue...the noise is directly linked to the potential issue until proven otherwise.
Person B: hears a noise, looks for surrounding evidence pointing at(or not) an underlying issue...the evidence is the link to the issue.

Neither is 100% correct with regard to troubleshooting and thus both thought processes have their place. The differences in human aspect of finding confidence or peace or solution is what separates A from B.

Bottom line, you're both correct;)... You're just troubleshooting from different directions.

Sure would make things easier if FCA would release their findings which would let us know what they define as the tick and where and what evidence they conclude is cause for concern.

Thanks Ostracize, there's always multiple ways to look at a problem. My beef is that for what we pay for these trucks, whether a tradesman or a Longhorn, such noises and any other unexplained NVH shouldn't exist.

Maybe I’m just a wee bit de-sensitized after listening to the re-start piston slap in my 5.3 for the last 20 years.

Oh I agree, but mass produced complex machinery unfortunately will always have some issues.... And that's before the corpo-tards muck it up further.
I shouldn't have to "ctrl-alt-del" a $300+mil aircraft to get the flight controls to pass preflight... Yet here we are lol
Though I'm also a realist (often mistaken as a pessimist)
Also am a bit de-sensitized like panda due to having to log many thousands of hrs on the aforementioned aircraft ;)

Oh I get that! I too have many times gone "black" to get the plane to work properly in my prior career. Still, it never sits with me well and of course they don't teach systems like they used to with us pilots anymore. So we never fully understand what's going on with a particular system.
