Lets see what you are towing!

Been across the country twice now with this truck and trailer. Gets used to move the family and stuff every few years as required by uncle Sam.

Too cold for south Texans.
Were you riding on the stock tires? I had to drive through snow, slush, and sleet with the stock firestone tires. It was about a 70 mile trip. I was traveling at about 35-40 mph. I was surprised at how much control I had with the factory tires. How did your truck do? I have a 22 2500 crew cab 4x4 cummins.

No I just bought some michelins before the trip. They did very well in snow. In the mud afterwards, not so well. But I made it.
Edit: There was a good snow storm 3rd rifle season maybe 2020? The firestones did ok but started slipping at some point when it got compacted and icey so I just chained up.20201108_064135.jpg

Studs and chains are the only solution to dealing with ice. I had eighteen inch wheels on my truck from factory. But last fall I bought some 20 inch wheels that came with the stock firestones. I was concerned about driving with the stock tires. With everything I had read about them, I should have been sliding all over the place. So I was surpised at how well they handle the weather. Now I am going to wait until they wear out to replace them.

Funny we deal with ice packed roads 4months out of the year and I plow and tow just fine on them with no studs or chains on the truck up steep grades… my wifes CUV has studs and it helps a bit but its not a game changer. good tires are the game changer.

I went studded for my hunting tires this last time and I’ve run these same tires without studs. Unfortunately there is no appreciable difference in ice traction, they still suck.

Treat compound is way more important that studs.

Chains are a game changer thou.

My 2023 CCSB Hemi towing the new to me 32' deck Gooseneck from Colorado to California over the weekend. Truck pulled great, better MPG than I was expecting. The 8 speed transmission and 4.10 rear end are a great combo.

You need a heavier duty truck and trailer combo for hauling something that heavy…kidding around of course haha. Great looking truck and trailer!
