Beautiful. That truck is begging for Night edition headlight swapFirst tow with new truck View attachment 56202
The 6.4 makes ~4% more horsepowers but the 2500 weighs a lot moreFinally made the upgrade from 1500 to 2500
Have only towed about 25miles in the new 2500 but so far I can definitely tell the trailer does not push me around as much. There doesn't seem to be that big of a difference in power between the 6.4L and 5.7L. My 1500 does have the 3.92 rear end compared to the 3.73 on the 2500.

Yes that’s my next task. LEDsBeautiful. That truck is begging for Night edition headlight swap
Well the diesel version did make 550 ft/lbs IIRC
There’s some videos out there of those Touareg V10 TDIs dragging duallies backwards. Even cooler was the Audi Q7 TDI. They didn’t release it with the diesel here, but in Europe you could get it with a 6 liter V12 diesel that made 500HP and 738 ft-lbs of torque (limited because ZF didn’t make a transmission that could handle more) back in 2009. With the speed limiter removed it’ll do almost 180 MPH. For comparison the Cummins that year made 350HP and 650 ft-lbs.Well the diesel version did make 550 ft/lbs IIRC![]()
That's a girls jeep! Lol....j/k....how was sand hollow? I'm headed there in September.....are you v8 swapped? What axles are you running?Added about 2000 towing miles on the Ram last month. Jeep trips to Moab and Sand Hollow.
Having worked at a U-haul rental place in my youth I've seen some odd tow vehicle/trailer combos, but this is definitely up there.
Hahaha, I get it all the time. My buddies want me to ditch the Jeep and get a buggy. Maybe someday. That's a girls jeep! Lol....j/k....how was sand hollow? I'm headed there in September.....are you v8 swapped? What axles are you running?
For me - it wasn't the power - its more of the cooling differences, and the purpose built nature of the 6.4 for hauling. my 5.7 oil temps would climb on long grades, way more than I was comfortable with.
Ha, until you see a 10k lb trailer you like better - it happens! Happened to me, but luckily I already had a DRW suitable for the new shiny lol.Update:
I pulled the camper to the campground about an hour away. Maybe its the 6.4 w/the 8speed but there was a noticeable difference merging and passing. Not to mention the solid feel while pulling the trailer. I looked down at one point and caught myself doing 75mph. 70mph in the 1500 was very noticeable and could be little nerve racking in some situations. Stopping the trailer was another major improvement and I upgraded my rotors and pads on the old truck with an HD towing variant.
Overall, very happy with the upgrade and will be pulling this 7k trailer for a long time.
New truck does have 5th wheel prep, so its a little future proof.Ha, until you see a 10k lb trailer you like better - it happens! Happened to me, but luckily I already had a DRW suitable for the new shiny lol.
6.4 pulls my 10k 5’r just fine, also pulled a 12k TT amazing well. Don’t know that I’d go much more than that but the old outdated Hemi likes to work![]()
