Just looking for things to buy ....

Are you asking about with the step extended as he shows, it are you asking about while it's retracted and hidden up under the bumper and frame?
Maybe just the perspective but the rear of the step in the stowed pos'n looks kinda close to that LH sensor. I don't advocate driving around with the step extended. ;)

Luverne Omega II wheel to wheel running boards. Undercover Armour Flex bed cover. Should be delivered within 10 days or so.

Got the retrax pro XR installed. Was all fun and games till it came time to install the bedside clamps.

Have you been in any "weather" yet? I'm curious about how well it seals against water getting into the bed? I've had a few different bed covers and am interested in this one, but I'd like for it to be pretty well weatherproof. Also, did yours come with the accessory rails?

Havent been in any weather yet but I’ll report back when I am (infrequent this time of year in central Oregon). The accessory rail (track) is part of the XR model only. I bought the Pro (all metal construction) since it comes with a limited lifetime warranty as well (and got a solid discount from real truck).

Visually, you can’t see any daylight between the rail and back of canister weather stripping but that doesn’t mean **** when I’m in heavy rain. I did notice, during install the bed is made to drain in the cab side front corners. I have not sealed those holes yet either.

Looks great. I’m looking at the same model. My truck doesn’t have any type of rails but it should still install correct?

What gave you trouble on the installation?

The top rails of the retrax clamp to the inside lip of the bed. Our truck beds have super thin metal there and I couldn’t get torque without the bed metal yielding. Had to play with the locations of the clamps to get it right.

Edit: adding pics to help illustrate the point.

What is the gap between the rail and the bed lid? On my current softtop, the rail meet the lid directly so the clamp is squeezing both together. Only a foam tape is in between.

From the outside (vertically) what you described is the same. It goes retrax rail, weather strip, bed side top. What my photo shows is bed side (thin blue metal) and the retrax c channel. The c channel has worm screws in it to fine tune to ensure the rail is parallel for the full length of the bed. Our truck beds are designed with a taper so this accounts for the square rolling section.

EDIT: though looking at it now I’m wondering if placing the clamp IN the c channel would get me better grip there.

Can you put a backer plate inside the truck bed rail to spread the load?

I might have not explained correctly. On mine, the "C" clamp is open less than a 1/4". Just enough to clamp the rail, foam and lid together. On yours, it looks like it's opened by at least an inch, with nothing in between (just an air gap). How will this hold in the long run, that side can bend and the clamp will loose its grip?

Unless I misunderstand your picture...

I don’t foresee the clamp being an issue. I can always loctite the bolt if needed. The fail point for me is how weak the sheet metal of the bed is.

Edited my original response because I didn’t read your full post properly the first time.

Spent the wifes stimulus check on a couple essentials.
Andersen 180 2.5" shank 6" greaseless ball mount
TireMinder i10
Husky X-Act Front Mats

I looked and then bought lol

3" carli front springs
2.5" custom ordered rear springs
bilstein matching shocks and stabilizer.

Link where you bought the vinyl lettering?
They have a Facebook page or you can go to ReflectiveConcepts.com
I bought the "kit" which included lettering for the RAM and 2500 on the sides, but I didn't put those on because the red is not an exact match to what's on my truck factory. It's close enough that on the front and rear I think it's o.k. Just a little too different when they are side by side...

I put the Soft Topper on to check fit and stretch out the top. It’s not in it’s final position yet. I need to determine the position for bolting down my toolbox. Meanwhile I am installing my Amp power steps. 80312E3B-6D19-4DA2-A7AB-E140E79E4B83.jpeg
