Issue with new 2025… trailer connection wiring issue

2025 Ram 2500 currently 130 miles, owned for 2 weeks. Service Brake controller message. I have not plugged in the trailer yet. Going to the Dealership this morning and park rhe truck at the service door. Looks like I have to cancel upcoming trip. They should have a recall on this due to the failure could cause a accident. Thanks Ram. Keep building unsafe vehicles.

Make sure to file a report on NHTSA.

Just an updated...round 2 to same dealer on 8/11. 3 hours later, engineers advised service tech it's the ITCM. No crap, told them on first service trip but they decided to reflash ECM 1st to see if that would fix it. Of course, it did not. Now it's gonna take a 3rd trip to same dealer since they didn't have ITCM in stock to replace. 10 hours, 3/4 tank diesel because dealer needed boat/trailer there both times and still awaiting a fix on $80k truck.
Did they get you fixed up? My issue was the brake control switch/lever on the dash. That part seems to be a common fix.

Yeah, all fixed after 3 trips, almost 400 round trip miles and 15.5 hours sitting at dealer to get fixed. ITCM was bad and replaced but they also found a pin or 2 loose that connects to ITCM. Either way, works perfect as should...no more pulsating trailer lights and my cluster now recognizes a trailer is connected almost immediately.

Glad to hear you were able to be assisted previously, @dblackwell!

I didn't know exactly what that was, so did a search.

Well, saga continues. Driving down the road, NO trailer hauling or connected and trailer connected light pops on. WTF? On dash panel, I get an error message "service trailer brake system. What could possibly else go wrong with this truck? 3000 miles and looks like trip #5 to dealer.

I wonder if there is another issue with the brake controller/module.

I had a 2022 back in Dec. I could set the level to about 7.5 and it was perfect for my RV. While I was parked on a buddies property the truck was eaten by dogs.
It was bad enough I traded it in on a 2024.

Well I hooked up to the RV in late Feb to head south.
Brake Controller needs to be cranked up to 10 and it feels like I am only putting about 10% on the trailer brakes.
Nothing changed on the RV.

I dont think the brake controller is sending enough amps to the trailer to work the brakes fully.

Anyone had that issue?

I have the same issue. Took it to the dealer once, and they couldn't find anything wrong. Going back to the dealer this week with a little more info on the problem.

I noticed without the engine running, everything works fine. No blinking marker lights and stop and turn singles work. Once I start the engine, the marker the marker lights blink continuously. The turn singles and brake lights work when the running lights are off, but blink (when used) if the running lights are on. Two solutions: only drive during the day or only drive with the engine off while driving at night. Neither solution seems ideal.

This should be a safety recall.

Same issue. I am pulling the same RV that I pulled with my RAM 1500. On the 1500, I had the brake control set at 4.5 and the RV had more stopping power than my 2025 2500 set at 9.0.

I recently connected one of my trailers (16' enclosed with brakes). The truck went through the usual light test. When I put it in gear, I got all sorts of lights and chimes. No ABS, front and rear parking system disabled, traction control disabled.
I had towed this trailer and others without issue for the last 8k miles.
The error codes stayed on for the10 miles I drove. When I got home, I plugged in my scanner and reset the fault. I did not record the fault code. But it was not a "P" code, just a two-digit number, 40-something.
Everything reset and is normal. I towed the same trailer again, and the problem did not repeat.

I am sorry to hear of all the troubles owners are having. Seems like most auto brands are having more quality issues...
Stellantis has certainly not done Dodge/Ram/Jeep/Chrysler any favors...

We would like to learn more about what you've experienced, @Morpar!

Our team has also reached out to many of the above users as well, but please individually send a private message with the model year and mileage of your vehicle to get started.

Just chiming in here with my issue to tag along... I have a 2024 gas 2500 that is having connection issues with ONLY boats. I work in the fishing industry and I am usually towing around bass boats. My connection to the 7-pin hasn't worked on multiple boats now. Taking to dealer, should I bring a boat to show them this is a brand new boat and trailer and it is NOT trailer issues?
